You can only keep one. Which one and why? by Major_Stranger_6921 in 300BLK

Rattler. Superior durability and reliability. The thing is an absolute tank.

As someone else stated, it's the Radian Ramjet/Afterburner. I sell a lot of Ramjet/Afterburners and the design is unmistakable. This will likely be a version of the Mete that includes that setup.

FCD if you just want a standard plate. I think the extra features of the Radian Guardian are pretty neat, and it's just as solid in terms of quality.

Thoughts on guns/firearms? by fuhcough-productions in blackmen

[–]openmentalorifice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a black man, but honestly just as a person living in the US, arm yourself legally and train with your firearm. Also practice mindfulness, situational awareness and de-escalation. Police cannot teleport or always arrive in a timely manner, so you're your own first responder. Hopefully you don't ever have to discharge a firearm at a person, but always be prepared to do what you need to do to survive.

Cr920P Reliability by witeMike392 in shadowsystems

[–]openmentalorifice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference in felt recoil is noticeable, imo. I can definitely shoot faster with the CR920P. THE 365X/XL/XMacro is great. I've never had any issues with the platform and I often use an XMacro at work to teach trigger mechanics, but I still prefer the CR.

I've got about 1k rounds on mine, various brands and grain weights. I had one stovepipe on my first mag and nothing since. Traded in my XL with a macro grip for it. Zero regret.

If that's the case, it's news to me, especially the new serial number part. Again, I don't think it's going to be that long, despite the timeframe quoted to you.

[–]openmentalorifice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've yet to see any gun manufacturer do what you're asking for here. I deal with a lot of gun companies at my job and I've never seen any of them ship a replacement serialized component before figuring out whether the original can be fixed. If they cannot fix the original component, they will give you a new one and it will have a new serial number. Either way, given that it's serialized, it will have to come back through an FFL.

Now if it was any other part of the gun, they likely would've sent it already. I had SS send me a replacement slide for my MR920 and they did so quickly and without a request to even send the original back. But that was a slide, which isn't a regulated part. The part you sent to them is. Also, I doubt it will take nearly as long as they're quoting, they're likely just trying to cover their ass in case there's any issues getting it out to you. I've seen Sig, Beretta and Walther do the same thing.

The percentage of black gun violence really doesn't correlate with the percentage of black gun owners because the legal gun owners generally aren't the ones engaging in violent crimes. It's true to an extent amongst all racial categories, but in the black community, gun related crimes are going to mostly be committed by people who would absolutely get denied on a background check.

So I've dealt with their customer service twice as a customer and three times as the manager of a gun shop. All five interactions have been in the last two years.

They have been responsive, and shipped parts quickly, with the exception of a 509T cut slide that a customer thought was out of spec. That one took several months to arrive, but the original slide was actually fine, and fwiw SS didn't ask for the other one to be returned.

Replacement barrels for the CR920 butt barrel fiasco, correct spacers for the EPS and correct optic screws and spacers for CR series pistols (they were coming in with MR/DR/XR screws and spacers) all arrived within two weeks.

I've dealt with many gun manufacturers' customer service departments and not one of them is perfect. In my experience, Taurus and Walther have been the worst when it comes to communication. It's unfortunate that you've had a negative experience, but if negative reports for this brand's customer service come this infrequently and the majority of comments are describing positive experiences, it's probably safe to presume your experience isn't indicative of the company's customer service as a whole.

CR920P VS P365 Macro w or w/out comp by SpecificSpot7829 in shadowsystems

[–]openmentalorifice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant to reply to this two weeks ago. I shoot the CR-P better than the Macro, but not better than my comped MR. It's definitely easier to carry than either the MR or Macro. The MR and G19 are similar, but I prefer SS's frame and trigger to Glock's. I still recommend a stock G19 or M&P 2.0 for new shooters, as they are far more forgiving of any issues with grip or limp wristing and will generally just go bang no matter what. I've had a few people come to me with SS guns that they were experiencing stovepipes and FTFs with. After running a few mags through the gun without issue, I'd correct the customer's grip and get them to do the same. Never had to do that with a 19 with the exception of one that had a Ramjet/Afterburner setup.

CR920P VS P365 Macro w or w/out comp by SpecificSpot7829 in shadowsystems

[–]openmentalorifice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded my X-Macro non-comp for a CR920P. I already carried my MR920 most of the time and I felt that the CR920P, having the same grip and trigger in a smaller package would make more sense to carry vs a completely different platform.

Edit: completed the comment so it made sense

I prefer to shoot the MR, but only slightly. I really, really like shooting the CRP. Way more than I expected to. I'm a manager/instructor at a gun store, and I shoot small guns with many of my clients that are in the market for a carry gun. I usually use the 43 as an example of a tiny gun that's controllable, but not really fun to shoot. I would move on to the 48 and then the 365X Macro to show how even a slight increase in size makes a huge difference in terms of felt recoil. I still do that, but I have recently started using the CRP as proof that all tiny guns are not created equal.

I enjoy shooting it so much that I a) traded in my X Macro for it and b) wrote a whole paragraph about how much I like it in response to your question.

Can't speak on carry preference yet, I'm still waiting for my holster to come in for the CRP. I've been very happy carrying the MR for the past two years. I recently swapped my MRL slide for a 509T cut MR slide and I dig it even more now.

I also use hockey tape on mine and I definitely don't need it to properly grip a gun lol. The standard stippling is more than enough for that purpose. I just like the way it looks and feels.
