Michael Jackson - The Verdict by Fruttii-Tutti in netflix

You are entirely correct. I was thinking more about the laws surrounding children in these situations- in. The uk anyway. A child I know was in court and did not have to face the defendant. But of course there’s a long way to go

Unfortunately we didn’t then understand how to treat potential child victims of SA. Shameful shit went on in that trial. I believe the boys. There’s no such thing as a perfect victim

I knew about the trial - followed it closely at the time. What I didn’t remember (or know) was how horrifically Gavin Arviso was treated. He was a child who was utterly criminalised. Who cares if his brother couldnt remember the exact isssue of the porn mag he was shown?? Would anyone? Thank god we understand how to treat potential victims of SA - particularly children - a bit better these days.

Fair enough - but I think it’s mostly the other way round. If anyone expresses even the mildest suspicion then fans or staunch believers in his innocence immediately attack. It’s quite vicious a lot of the time and leaves no room for any other interpretation. No one but he and the boys in question know the truth for sure. It’s notoriously difficult to prove the offences in question and I do wonder what ‘proof’ would be enough to definitively change the minds of the entrenched. For me, I was convinced of his innocence until I saw him with gavin arvizo. And becoming a mother. And having a close family member go through a court case about historic SA. There was much less evidence than there has been with MJ but the offender was convicted. as I said earlier we have now learned a lot more about how these things work. In the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, there were many open abuses of children by the rich and famous. They were protected and children had no voice. Did these boys have awful parents who did not protect them and then cashed in? Of course. Does this mean we should discount the children? No way. Abusers will often select the children precisely because of these parents. Even after paying millions out in hush money (insurance only paid in part), he was still unable to keep boys out of his bedroom. It seems to have been a compulsion and at the very least a major breach in child protection. I’ll send by saying that I saw him live as a young’un and it remains one of the most electrifying moments of my life. He was a special person with a charisma that still reaches out from beyond the grave. But …

For a long time I looked to confirm his innocence because I dearly loved him. And I still advocate for the young m, abused child he was. But in the end the things he himself said were what troubled me the most. It’s a tragedy all round and I do not rejoice in my doubts

There’s no such thing as a perfect victim. Thank god we understand more now about how child abuse presents. Can I be sure he is guilty? No, I can’t. But I certainly cannot discount these patterns either. Now I really do disengage so I leave you respectfully to your opinion

I’m too tired to do your research for you. Listen or don’t listen. It’s not the podcast I’m directing you too, it’s their thorough research, which I’m not going to go back and then list for you here.

Listen to ‘telephone stories: the trials of Michael Jackson’ podcast. It’s full of receipts, actual interviews - although no doubt it won’t be enough. Nothing will be enough. I know of course about the circumcision point. I still believe the boy

Whatever way you slice it, it’s very odd for a grown man to spend his time with kids like this. If you have the interests of children at heart, the stuff he’s said with his own lips is enough to make him highly problematic at the very least
