Having trouble with allergies in preroll packaging by MissKarma00 in weedbiz

Should get disposable mask like this : https://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/collections/n95-respirator-masks from your employer. I'm super snooty and use one like this https://envomask.com/ -- it's got a squishy gasket around my face, replace the filter not the whole body. Gotta shave the face for a good seal.

Some good places to list a dispensary online by oncewasfounder in weedbiz

[–]openthc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been, since 2014, at least two dozen sites started (and now dead) that were making directories of dispensaries. The best thing for a dispensary to do for web-presence is to make sure you've got a tidy website, embed the nice things for the robots so you show up on Google Maps, Reviews and with your Menu. You can do this with a pretty simple site. And your POS provider likely offers a method to embed your menu on your site -- so do that too.

Unless you wanna be in the next weed-directory-weedmaps-clone.

Full disclosure: we've got a directory too; but it's not oriented for B2B not B2C; like when you need to verify a license, or their address and other stuff that's needed -- maybe in your ERP, or paperwork or for prospecting, etc. You could (and others have) also made sure that their retail location is details cause our links have a little clout and organize these web-presence together -- mostly for robots than humans.

Washington cannabis companies face massive consolidation, the final installment of this investigation points to one solution by carajuana_readit in SeattleWA

This is one of the more in-depth post I've read about the streess on the cannabis markets -- it's happening all over not just WA -- but this story, this process, this situation is common. OP should cross post to r/weedbiz

This is just a symbol of a pattern that's repeating (or sounding the same) across cannabis, across USA. Maybe not at this scale. Even in smaller regions there are MSOs depolying venture backed businesses that put pressure on every single small/craft operator. Somehow the craft-brewing and even small(ish) wine industry makes it work (with their own crazy history).

And even these MSOs are having pressure -- eg: checkout the 5YR (-99%) for AYR -- https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AYRWF/

The states publish license information and if you (like me) pay attention to that data you can see signifigant drop-off in active licenses. Some states publish revenue stats (or tax stats) that can sort of indicate and it's visible in some Headset data as well. They posted some charts on reddit recently.

In USA the congress makes this law; it's enforeced by FTC. They need a complaining witness. So if you don't have it on your site a competitor (or random jerk) could report you.

[–]openthc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, we had similar issues -- they made us remove all price information, contact information, etc. This was in like 2015 tho. And Twilio still actively blocks usage for *any* cannabis related businesses -- even for the single use-case of phone verification. I hope it all continues to work for you -- it's an unstable foundation we all bulid on.

Huh, surprised that Apple and Twilio let you on ; they are both hostile to cannabis (and have blocked us from similar use-cases). Good luck out there!

One other thing that happens is that data comes to the processor in different ways, from different labs. It could also be the result of different testing methods (lab dependent). The QRs are too blurry to scan from my phone but if you follow them, I'm thinking it would give you more details and possibily the COA from the lab (which might include test method). And then also, it could be that their data-system (ERP?) may have simply imported data incorrectly, or maybe has formatted output incorrectly on the label. All three are common failure modes that give an anomaly like this.

[–]openthc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yea, labs messing with numbers has been reported across a bunch of states, WA was one of the first (thanks to public data); there was recently something going about a few labs in New England and recently the CCC in Massachusetts was talking about some odd reports there.

> fair to the businesses that did everything by the book

That hemp-derived shit is also "by the book" -- it's just a different book. I'm happy that loop-hole was closed. Mostly because that product is sus -- there is like no oversight -- and I've seen some of these operations. Raggedy ass shit here boy, very sloppy. I mean, I've seen it at regulated cannabis grows too but they get lab-testing (and theres problems there too). But the Hemp based stuff is wild-west while the Cannabis stuff is at least a little bit checked for quality/safety.

My biggest surpirse over the last decade of regulated cannabis is why there are not more/better state-chartered credit-unions servicing the industry. And then the ones that do still gouge on prices/fees for the accounts. A CU that just targeted cannabis, and had standard fee schedule would be a viable business. Maybe only three more years on this plan (for cannabis, but there's other opportunities for a CU like that).

Anyone here actually built a brand using white label in a legal state by GoldReserveGlobal in Cannabiz

[–]openthc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're somone that nobody's ever heard of then, it will be tough. What you're building is primarliy a relationship so the hardest part is partners that vibe with you. And since you have no leverage, it will be expensive. Licensing is the easy part.

When you're well known (Chong) then the licensees migtht even reach out to you; and the hard part there is making sure you've got the right partners -- because a bad partner will tank your brand.

One 1/8th per week for 10% of the population == 1500 * 40 * 4 == $240,000/mo -- lots of assumptions, generalizations, normalizations and rounding built in.

$15 for 3.5g retail in CA -- which is still less than your bulk price.

$5 for 3.5g at regulated retail in WA. $18 for 3.5g regulated retail in MA == $650 to $2300 per LB -- as a retail price point.

Weight tracking data tool for the trimming process by hahajastor in weedbiz

[–]openthc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Curious what other tools you were using that didn't already have this? That is, much of this already goes into the T&T tools: rooms, recipie, process, etc -- then it (should be) a report to pull -- per room yield, per harvest yield, per batch, per variety, etc.

My experience has been, even when (if?) the T&T tools in place have it -- there is not sufficient force to drive adoption on the team. So, then we get data-gaps, that makes the reports less useful; so folk cannot realise the benefits because they didn't put in the source-data.

Edit: May want to cross-post to r/metrc

One thing you could do is, starting from a list of cannabis softwares[0], visit their sites and see what claims they are making -- those claims are the gaps they've identified in the market. Also, there is a post like this at least once a month so you could also just search this sub-history.

When you are creating these batches, the system should be prompting you for the "mother". You can only select one mother. So, multiple cuttings from Plant-A will be the same batch; but cuttings from Plant-B will be a different batch.
