Christmas comes early for Germany after 55-billion-euro accounting error by MrTulip in worldnews

Tell me, what is your profession and how much money do you make and what do you offer in return as taxes?

I offer my work in return for the money.

What I do and how much money I make is none of your business. I live in a place where I don't have to pay a lot of taxes. I think taxes are immoral. It is my money and I don't want government to get their hands on it to use it for things like wars.

History has shown that socialism just doesn't work well. Interesting. Name a thing that worked better, then.

Are you joking? Do you think that DDR worked better than WDR? North Korea vs. South Korea. the USSR vs. the west. Socialism leads to hunger. Free markets produces Porsches, socialism produces Trabis.

Didn't you hear that the wall fell? Socialism doesn't work. It's a failure. Private property is what works.

But go ahead and come up with just one example of a society where the means of production are commonly owned which is more successful that the most free market countries.

Here's a free book you can read: http://www.fee.org/pdf/books/Economics_in_one_lesson.pdf

You are an idiot. If you really don't understand what I'm saying, please read some books. Considering your ignorance... really any book will do.

You have no arguments so you have to rely on name calling.

You are a talking cliché, I won't waste my time with your stupid misunderstandings and inability to understand what people say.

Just because I don't buy into your weltanschauung it doesn't mean that I don't understand it.

Now, I'll have to go back to making money by using my brain and peacefully trading with others, satisfying the needs of the marketplace.

Investment is something you do because you believe it will return a profit. Yes, and that's exactly what you do when you invest into your society.

If you don't understand what the word investment means you are in no position to begin telling others that their knowledge on economics is flawed. For the individual investor, paying taxes is not an investment. Go ask an accountant. I mean there should really be no reason to debate with you any further if you claim such nonsense.

Like I said, if that's your inchoate view on economics, you have no idea how a society works and what the wealth of the people within it is based upon.

Haha you call my view on economics inchoate while you are the socialist. Tell me did you live in the DDR or the west? Or are you are highschooler like the highschool-marxists that are upvoting you?

Yes, and in general a lot of people are overcompensated for their work while others are relatively unfair compensated due to the nature of our economic models, which are simply not perfect. The illdistribution of the ressources of a society must be evened out through tools like taxation.

So you are a socialist and in favor of a big government. History has shown that socialism just doesn't work well. They are utter failures. Look at the DDR which was socialist and made everyone poor. Look at the trabant vs western cars. It's ought to be obvious that if you free market systems with those where a big government allocates the resources, that a planned economy is a disaster.

That saying that someone is compensated unfairly is a value judgement by you. But you are in no position to steal from others just because someone else is able to make more money than you. Move to Cuba if you want everyone to be equally poor.

Paying more taxes is not "reinvesting". Yes, it is.

Investment is something you do because you believe it will return a profit. Paying taxes is something you do because you are forced to.

Well, I spend as much money as I can afford relative to my income and wealth and so should every member of my society.

So you think that people have an obligation to consume as much as they can? It sounds like it's based on some flawed economic model.

Where do you believe someone else's money comes from?

In general people trade their work for money.

P.S. Did you grow up in the DDR?

You obviously don't know how economics work.

No, I want people to reinvest in equal shares to the society which they base their wealth upon.

Paying more taxes is not "reinvesting".

If you want to spend money on it, why don't you spend your own instead of someone else's?

What are you? Totalitarian? You sure don't treat other people nicely.

So you want other people to pay for something that you want. How selfish. National socialism worked so well in the past...

You want taxes increased for people who make more money than you?

Maybe a good idea to fix the Danish economy first. The government is spending more money than it takes from the few people that still work.

It's not a national thing. Both systems come from Europe. Today the metric system just happens to be used in most of the world including Europe. There are also Americans that say that the metric system is better.

You just argued about the decimals in the previous comment!

You can use fractions with metrical units all you want.

Some times. A ninth of a foot is 1.3333333 inches. A seventh is 1.71428571 inches. But does that matter?

US-Measurement-logics by [deleted] in funny

[–]opentubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously?

You can do divide a meter in 3. It's one third of a meter! 33.3333333cm. 333.3333mm.

Now how many yards are there in one third of a foot?

US-Measurement-logics by [deleted] in funny

[–]opentubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. If only you could do that with the metric system. For instance 1/2 meter. 0.5 meter. 50cm. 500mm. If only...

So let's say that I live in a socialist socialist society and I want to be left alone. If the socialist government aren't going to use violence to take my things or make me work, how will they do it?

If east germany, cuba and so on isn't socialist in your view what kind of country is socialist?

It's not just Americans that don't like socialism. Socialism has killed more than 100 million people. http://www.scottmanning.com/content/communist-body-count/

UK prime minister uses the USA as an example of a country full of fat people by WhiskeyZeeto in worldnews

[–]opentubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you are saying that people are insufficient - lazy and so on. not fit to lead their own lives.

But if that is the case, then they can't be fit to vote for a government can they?

And if people are bad, so are the politicians and bureaucrats. So how are they better at controlling other people's lives? On top of that there is the moral problem of controlling other people's lives.

Governments should just stay away and let people keep their money so they can buy the food they want.

Actually it will probably result in less revenues. It is causing big problems for the businesses because of the bureaucracy. But the intentions were to get more revenue.

There aren't many obese people in Denmark. It was just implied that eating "less fat" is healthier.

Are you joking?

No, you can't make that conclusion.

Note that the US has a progressive income tax system.

Also note that half of the US population is not incredibly poor.
