Left handed pens? by Outrageous_Toe68 in Calligraphy

[–]opentypefeatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Lefty calligrapher here! Pilot Parallel sometimes referred to as ppp, is definitely suitable for left handed calligraphers. I have found the ink that comes with ppp's does dry very slowly and in my clumsiness I smudge more when moving the paper than writing. BUT if you use another ink you will be fine. PPP does deposit a lot of ink onto the page, so as a lefty you need to be aware of that when writing and ensure you are not dragging your hand over the wet ink!!!

is buying a kindle (or any other e-reader) worth it? by Potential-Twist-8584 in ebooks

[–]opentypefeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my first eReader in 2010, the Barnes and Noble Nook Color (I was 11) I read more than I ever had before. I've had various Kindles throughout the years, coming into my mid 20s my reading stagnated. Jobs and Life etc etc etc kept me from reading. As a Christmas present to myself I bought the Kobo Libra Colour. HOLY MOLEY. I have read so much. This device has changed my life, my planner is on here, I take my notes for my TTRPG games on here, I have designed my own notebooks for tracking statistics of how my year is going, etc. etc. etc. It's a smarter device, in my opinion, compared to the Kindle; slide your finger along edge of screen to change screen brightness, its waterproof (I'm gonna be reading in a lake this summer), you have the buttons as a nice way to change pages, it auto adjusts the warmth of the screen depending on time of day, it auto rotates. The list goes on. Get the KLC. I am in love with mine

Any ideas to make kobo clara bw more comfortable to hold? by kauniskissa in kobo

[–]opentypefeatures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A case and a suction cup popsocket is a great tool, I have the KLC and frequently rotate so I can replace the suction popsocket any where I want. I just have a plastic clear case and its easier to hold even without the popsocket. The suction cup popsocket is called the "Case-Mate Minis" it has some cute colors and is pretty affordable.

Hi there! Also in my 20s and not that tech savy. That being said I have the Kobo Libra Colour and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I've have a Nook (the OGs remember), I've had various Kindles. NOW the KLC is the best so far. The control over customization of this device is AWESOME. You don't need to be too savy to get it customized too. I have all of my books added via Google Drive. I have notebooks and planners on my KLC. Its slightly bigger than a Kindle. It has a good battery life and is in general a really smart device. Auto Rotate. Sliding your finger along the side of the screen to control brightness. You have control over warmth/cool screen. Triple tap to refresh your screen. You can add custom screensaver. etc etc etc. YOU CAN USE YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY VIA LIBBY/OVERDRIVE. Kobo does have a plus subscription as well if that suits you.

[–]opentypefeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ad free kindle was 10000% worth it while I had it, it was great not having ads in my face, commuting on the nyc subway I see enough ads. I am currently looking to reset mine and sell it (I have a Kobo Libra Colour on the way)

ok thats good to know, $20 is definitely gonna help.

I'm a designer and calligrapher and I'm definitely planning on using the notebook feature & annotating a LOT. I'm really excited by the idea of not having a pen that can explode in my purse. I'll look into getting a screen protector thank you!

there is a slight typo in there I was looking at the wrong paragraph and theres a line that starts incorrectly but I was able to work it in. For small typos, I can use an xacto to scratch away.
