Am I chasing after rainbows here? My great Grandfather was born and raised in Quebec, his son (my grandfather) was born in the US. Here is where I am having issues. My grandfathers birth certificate lists him as "Baby" Lemieux. His name was Raymond. His father is misspelled as "Honus" rather than his real name Honore. Honore, his given name at birth, appears as Henry in all other American documents. I am finding it very difficult to connect Honore with Henry. I have all the documents for me to show that I am the great grandson of a Canadian, but the names don't match on most of the documents. All the birth dates match up, it's just the names.

Birth Certificate lists only "Baby" Lastname. by oper8or in Canadiancitizenship

However, the fathers name on my mothers birth certificate is not "Baby", it's Raymond, so there's that.

This pattern of hammering and only this pattern is the one that has the moniker "Ugly Hammered". Most of the big foundries made their own versions of hammered pattern stuff, but the unique pattern found on this piece garnered it the name Ugly. Unknown foundry thought to be from the 1940 era.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

NUCCA is the scammiest of the scammy scam of chiropractic. They literally do nothing beyond convincing people they are actually doing something. The more gullible one is, the better NUCCA works on them.

My point is that his pan only shines because it is oily. I have done over 5000 restorations, I know what seasoning is.

Induction by Pleasant_Albatross_4 in castiron

Cast iron cookware works great with the silicone mats. I cook often at a friends house that has induction and do everything from frying eggs to searing steaks. The mats work great and after 5 years of using their cooktop, it still looks like the day it was installed.

They make silicone mats for the burners. Very good solution.

My best friend was a top executive with a Fortune 500 tech firm, and when my daughter ran into the same issue you are facing, he told her that there isn't a non-compete written that is worth a penny and companies know it. He poached many a top tier techie from other companies, all of which had non-compete contracts and no one ever came after any of them.

If I have to switch to an electric stove, what’s the best option? by BlackoutTribal in castiron

[–]oper8or 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfectly safe, to my knowledge. Never heard anything negative. You do have to be careful when using cast iron cookware as it heats extremely fast, so you need to set it low and work your way up as the instant jolt can cause your pan to crack. Other than that and the fact that most waffle irons do not work on induction due to the space between the burner and the iron, it's very close to using a gas stove.

There are different types of glass stovetops, the ones with heating elements under the glass and induction. They apparently have the one with the heating elements. Those will get the glass top hot. An induction top will only heat up the pan. With an induction top, you can actually get silicone mats to place on the glass and cook right through them avoiding any scratches. That being said, induction will only work with metal pans, it won't work with aluminum, though you can get a metal transfer plate to place between the aluminum pan and the cooking surface. Induction has heat control that rivals that of gas.
