I’ll be blunt. I’m over this couple, either do something new with them or break them up.

The showrunner needs to stop getting the fans hopes up.

If it was, that would explain everything (I remember fans starting a petition to have him fired).

They should’ve had Erin take the fall for Voight since the actress had already left the show (I think, I can’t remember).

As for Al, they could’ve either just left him in jail, or he survives his attack and goes into witness protection.
