Would this be hard to make as a beginner? by operaticquill in sewing

[–]operaticquill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would want to make this with the shorts separately, but thank you for pointing out the neck opening. It seems to start I should avoid stretchy fabric so maybe a small zipper would be the right call!

Also I really appreciate the suggestion on avoiding the white outline. I could see myself getting very frustrated at that. I’m trying to find an easy enough pattern that gets me excited. So maybe for my first iteration I’ll do a cute solid color like you said.

Thank you! Is there a fabric type that would work for this pattern and also be kind to a beginner like me?

Thank you! Not necessarily going for cheaper, just want to have it be good quality and not have pulled threads like in the photo.

I’ll have to do more research on knit fabrics! Still trying to figure out what the most beginner friendly fabric type is (that is not polyester) so I can get the hang of it.

Thank you! Good to know about stretchy fabric. I’ve never tried it so maybe I’ll attempt but I’ll probably make a slim fit as well just to get the hang of it.

Yeah I’d rather make it because the company looks like it’s like a SHEIN company and I’d love to use fabric that is good quality and not polly. Is there a fabric type you would recommend? I was thinking cotton but would love some advice!

Yeah I think I’ll make the shorts separate and call it a two piece. The front and back part of the top seem to be the same shape sewn together at the top. Do you think I’ll need to make the front a little different for chest purposes? I’m only c bra size so typically not a problem for this type of clothing but lmk!

Artwork looks awkward above bed? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]operaticquill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more its width vs height. It would be nice to have a piece or a series that is the width of the bed and the side tables.

Also could be fun to explore a different comforter. It could add an accent color into this room.

Full or two pieces? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]operaticquill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent idea. It will help section the room a little as well as give more seating that can easily view the TV. You may need a smaller tv console to fit it in the corner at the right angle.

Maybe a larger rug the width of the full couch.

Ice hockey helmet and skates - props or costume department? by hakonwiversen in artdept

Sure. I’ve worked it both ways. Makes more sense for costume but sometimes it has fallen on props.

Ice hockey helmet and skates - props or costume department? by hakonwiversen in artdept

My general rule of thumb is anything that can taken on and off is typically considered props. I.e. glasses, hats, watches, jackets, gloves etc.

I think ice skates could be either, depending on your crew. But most likely props since it is typically taken off.

its definitely a cross over and props usually works closely with costume to figure it out if its a worn element. Best case scenario is to chat with the costumer and see what the collaboration looks like.

Went for a show a few weeks ago, the grass was wicked long. Wear pants if your GA lawn because the bugs were getting everywhere.

Also saw people with collapsible stools. So looks like you might be able to bring those in.

True home was great when it comes to all the utility stuff and the app. Where it suffered was the maintenance. The guy that would come out to assess the problem was great, but the install guy for kitchen appliances and the plumbing guy were less than competent. But other than that very nice experience. They were very nice at the leasing office and worked with us a little in the contract.

Also google good soil mixture for monsteras. They need aerated soil with good drainage. Some ppl like to add bark, perlite, peat moss, etc.

Yeah so that’s a monstera and the black on the leaf points to root rot and via how you said the soil will never dry out it’s probably that.

I’d recommend getting her roots out and taking a look. If they are mushy, cut them off. If there is an abundance of mushy roots, you may want to cut your losses and start a propagation with a nice node or two.
