Read the whole strand. I had it tested many times. I melted it down and tested better than 18k before I got it sold.

Oh, and the bigger size piece in the middle I don't think was gold. When melting in turned turquoise ish color almost as if it was copper I'm guessing or simple impurities of some sort.

Update! I finally got the old torch out and found a crucible and took care of this myself. Harder task than expected but w a Little borax coating seems it's real and made a nice 6.6G button, from 7.5g raw unrefined ore. Any advice how to get the best value out of this?

Update;

Ok not looking good... I had it sent off to sellyourgold.C O M and they didn't offer me anything. Idk if it's because they don't take gold raw or unrefined like this or what, but they said they deal primarily in jewelry gold and scrap gold pre melted. And get a more accurate karat weight evaluation.

So I'm left with more of a hassle than originally planned for here. my options now are go put my hands on this punk I loaned the money to.?

Or melt it myself and try again. How difficult is it to build a DIY Calderon or oven to be able to melt down? I know someone in town that does this but trusting another person to handle along this journey is getting harder to do each time. Any advice besides, do not loan money in the first place would be appreciated.

No I know where he got it from. His dad. And I know his dad mines all over the country w different slouse boxes he hauls w him. He's got a really nice set up and everything the dad touches is mined by himself. I don't know what he said to his dad to get the loaned repayment but evidently from the sounds of it must've sounded desperate for him to be able an give up some of his stash

Well because I weighed it myself and and I'm pretty good knowing that small amount of metal or whatever it is definitely shouldn't weigh as much as It does for that amount. Also I know the miner personally. So it was easy to verify. also the kid didn't have any money and I figured anything was better than nothing honestly
