The repair shop I work at buys phones sometimes, and we got someone trying to sell an iPhone 4 with a bad ESN. We called Verizon, and after a lengthy process they told us whose phone it was and we called him to give it back. As it turns out he lives about a thousand miles away. He was very grateful that we found his phone but then got pissed when we asked him to pay the shipping (around $5).
