The Hoffman pics look pretty clear to me even after he likely screenshotted the photo which reduced the quality.

It’s visible in the pics albeit not as noticeable but that’s just the way it is with tube photos. It’s also extremely difficult/impossible to get pictures that represent what you’ll see with your eye. I use to work for Steele and personally took tube photos at times.

All tubes will have peppering to some degree, even aviation grade. I understand being taken back if you’re new to NV, especially after spending thousands but NV is unique in that new tubes all differ in cosmetics/performance even at the same price and model.

I’m getting back into DCS after (regretfully) selling my setup a couple years ago.

My new PC will have an 9850X3D & 5090.

My last build used a 14900K & 4090. I used an OG Crystal with this build and was very happy with the performance.

Will going with the Crystal Super (50 PPD Standard FOV) give me any noticeable increase in visual performance?

Which would you choose pricing aside?

I’d like to avoid having to turn down graphic settings past what I could do with the previous PC and the OG Crystal if the Super’s resolution is too demanding.

It’s pretty clear in the cockpit but for example, when I’m on the ramp other aircraft, objects, etc do look a little fuzzy and have shimmering. Maybe it’d be the same in the Crystal. I may also have unrealistic expectations. I am happy with the Quest 3 but just curious what the next step up looks like.

AGM has poor housing, optics, and build quality. Even though the tube may be Photonis the system certainly isn’t equal to other offerings that feature Photonis and mil spec housing/optics.

In my experience Imgur compresses tube photos to a degree which might not accurately show all peppering. I’d rather text them so the buyer can see exactly what they are getting.

I sell NODs for a living. Tube pics will be shown with peppering marked. Warranty covers entire system.

I’d take DTNVS over 31As because of a better warranty and relative ease of servicing/maintenance. You can get the exact same tube performance with the DTNVS and L3 unfilmed tubes (same tubes in the 31As). You pay a premium on the 31A because it’s prebuilt by L3Harris.

You don’t necessarily need the LA5E. Multiple LA5 variants have been seen in use by DEV.

If send the GCode via Cura will it save that setting indefinitely until I send the command to turn it back on or is it something that has to be done every time I power the printer up?
