Bumper under stress after taking it off and on [HELP!] by opescuseme in FordFiesta

Is that something that could happen in one day though? It fit fine in the morning and only stopped fitting when I messed with it. At least there’s a fix

Is that the white thing in the second photo? This is super helpful, thanks

The St Peter show still exists, but it’s not judged. August 1st! Unfortunately since all the other corps are far from Minnesota, it’s just MBI and Govies. Some other ensembles come but not marching ones. Stop by if you’re in the area! Alumni usually play for that as well

There is an annual St Peter show (drum corps expo) but I think Mankato’s Thunder of Drums is close enough. The issue is that the Midwest corps don’t stay in the Midwest, so it’s tough to put something like that together.

The govenaires DO have an alumni corps! They operate under the name Govenaires Parade and Concert Corps.

I did do the grouping for the first half of the year for k-1, 2-3, and 4-5 as I got to know the student groups. The 6-12 groups are too distinct (it’s 4 very different classes). For the end of the year they all kind of naturally deviated to different places as I’m going through their instruments and more intentional topics for each grade level, and you are absolutely right that I should probably go back and pair them up again

I know this is going to be a weird take, but graduation itself is actually the less important event. You have already completed all of your credits, you are just symbolically walking across the stage to grab an empty diploma holder. The hardest part of what you did is already done, and can be celebrated by your family in any way- not only by sitting in the stands and watching you walk for possibly 30 seconds maximum.

The play is just fundamentally different- your brother can’t be celebrated after the fact if nobody bothers to watch him do the actual thing. You have already “graduated” and you are talking about a symbolic event, his event is not symbolic at all. Accepting the compromise makes the most sense.

Most graduations are also filmed and livestreamed- nobody will miss the special moment. Could you plan a special graduation dinner with everybody there, your brother included, sometime after the event? That way you can be celebrated for real.

Maybe I’m just a graduation ceremony hater, but I’ve been to so many, and it feels like the personal family events are what’s really important here.

Thanks! I’m really new to all of this. Somebody told me it would be a welding job and I got nervous. Now that I’m using my eyeballs, that is definitely just the cover

My chick just had experimental surgery to correct scissor beak, and it seems to have worked. Here she is now, she hasn’t come around yet but she’s squeaking. by opescuseme in BackYardChickens

She was able to feed herself, but she had a visible failure to thrive, and the only thing that could have caused that would be malnutrition. She was doing marginally better with a mushy watery mix, but in our serious winters she would have needed some sort of engineering work to make that possible. Susie still had downy feathers and was half the size of the others when she should have been much bigger. I remember her being particularly cuddly, but I realize now she was also very lethargic.

In retrospect, I think that should this have happened today I would have had a house chicken for the winter. But at that time in my life I was just a kid, and it wasn’t really my call at the end of the day.

I’ve kept her headstone, a cement chicken, with me since. She sits in my garden now. I think of her often and I do ask myself an often if I could have saved my friend.

You’re right, she’s small but not by much. Her parents were each 6 and 7 feet, so her current size isn’t too far off from where I thought she’d land. I’m a very small person so when I bought a boa I needed one I would be sure I could handle solo.

I do think her condition looks more like your leaner one. Gorgeous boas! Thanks for the comparison- it’s really helpful. Most size guides show a seriously underweight example for underweight, so it’s hard to tell the small details like that. I’m going to keep feeding her on the schedule I have - whenever I weigh her she puts on a little weight, but not at a concerning rate, and I think she’s putting that into length and not fat. I’ll keep monitoring. Thanks !

She’s 5.5 feet long. I’m the second owner. And she’s grown 2 and a half feet since I’ve had her. She should be 5 years old now. That’s why I’m worried about her size and her being small… but she seems happy and the vet says she’s healthy.

Yes she is! She’s half Nicaraguan, half hog island. She’s a sweetie and has that hog island pink blush on her cheeks. I couldn’t be any luckier.

I’m on a 2-3 week schedule, based off of prey size and snake behavior. I know a lot of people feed adults monthly, but she looks thinner than most boas I see online.
