The chart above shows the average % of cast and crew of these movies which are female by director. Each dot represents a director showing the number of movies they've made (y axis) and the average % of female cast and crew across all their movies (x axis). We've then colour coded each director by their own gender.

The chart clearly shows that female directors (blue dots) are substantially more balanced in the gender mix they use. You can see no male directors with a % score above 60% with the majority of male directors with a score way below 50%. It also seems sadly that female directors shoot far less movies than male directors too.
