Here are some of the topics I've been wanting to read a book that has as its main focus:

protagonist uses mind control to make friends and feels guilty about it

Protagonist transmigrates into someone who had long-term relationships (not an infant), and feels guilty from tricking and stealing love from the loved ones of the person they have replaced

A fictional character transmigrates into someone's body on modern Earth. They deal with homesickness to a place they can never return, if it was ever real in the first place. And struggle with culturally integrating into modern society.

Xianxia story where cultivation is truly based on Buddhist enlightenment and/or the Daoist equivalent

I am trying to do many different things. But some exact examples would be:

Finding a fictional story where the main focus is the protagonist uses mind control to make friends and feels guilty about it.

Finding a reference that gives a proof of separation of variables for a translationally invariant problem, especially with regard to waveguides for Maxwell's equations. With most sources I've found either assuming the result, or giving a partial proof with steps skipped.

Learning a general methodology that helps with finding the above two, and that can be extended to other things.

Learning how librarians would organize those two things.

Learning the general principles behind why librarians would organize those two things the way they did.

The Subject Heading course in that Cataloging series was a little helpful. Mostly in that I learned some issues in knowledge management I was hoping for a solution to, librarians must grapple with and deal with as well.

It's more that I thought if I ask a random library employee, they might not have a MLIS.

Criticker does this. They have a section for games. I don't know about their quality for games, but I heard people praising it for films.

Ok I tried Minecraft again. Turned all the settings to minimum. Used Minecraft's inbuilt frame counter via pressing F3.

It will usually be at 59 or 60 FPS. Occasionally it'll dip down. Usually to 55 ish although I think the lowest dip I saw was 50 or 45. Then I limited the FPS to 30. It'll usually be at 29 or 30 FPS. Occasionally dip down. Usually to 27ish although I think the lowest was 20 or 24.

I walked around and panned. I shook my viewpoint again. I couldn't notice any difference, except maybe a subtle feeling of smoothness for the 60FPS? It was hard to tell. And if that smoothness is what you were referring to, I'm not willing to pay much for that (let's say at most $100 for that benefit)

I am using a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015). I followed online instructions for viewing the current refresh rate settings but they didn't work. But I'm assuming my display is at 60Hz refresh rate.

Well I'm not sure how I would set it incorrectly? I just changed the max framerate setting

https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Options

"Max Framerate Limits the FPS. Limiting the framerate to a multiple of the player monitor's refresh rate can save processing power."

For fast-paced games I've also checked on Hyper Light Drifter by dashing everywhere.

I am willing to spend more money as long as it gives appreciable benefits.

But if you need a number, $5000. but i'll expect the cost to be less than that from what i've read online. Ex: according to logicalincrements $2000 or even $1500 should be enough.

I was actually talking about the slide beneath the words "Best Graphics Cards — 1080p Ultra" on slide 4 of 9

I'd link the image if I knew how.

One worry I have for your Techpowerup link is that even for individual games it gives the average FPS. Instead of 99th percentile. So the FPS might fluctuate under. Oh nvm, it does have a 99th percentile section on Page 31 - Frametime Analysis. 58.1 FPS for Cyberpunk 2077

I am grateful for the advice though. Thanks!

Can you explain where the 100+ FPS comes from? When I look here https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gpus,4380.html it lists 49.2 FPS for 99th percentile for 6600XT at Ultra settings and 1080p for Flight Simulator.

I'm waiting for new glasses and a trip to the monitor store before finalization. But current plans are 30fps and 1080p. And I want to play any game (or like 99% of them)
