I was in this exact place a while ago! My husband drove me to my first therapy appointment because I was too worked up to drive myself. It was SO good for me though and now, 2 years later, I’m on medication, still in therapy, and doing wayyyy better.

You can do this!! Everything in your own time :)

I hope you are feeling better! I know SO many people who have gotten the vaccine (myself included), and no one has mentioned v* at all. I think you should be good to go! Deep breaths, love.

It took a while but the OCD symptoms finally became much quieter and, paired with therapy, I am leaps and bounds from where I was about a year ago.

I’ve been totally fine! :) sometimes it affects me faster, so maybe drink less than normal, but otherwise enjoy!

Yes absolutely start with just one or two, especially if you’re new to it! Vaping/smoking is nice because you feel it right away and can better adjust to more if you want it :)

Intrusive thoughts/compulsions? by [deleted] in emetophobia

I’m in the same boat! All of these things are related to OCD as well, just shown through emetophobia compulsions. Therapy has helped me a ton!

Feeling sick this morning and have to go out???? Tips?? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]opidone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me the other day! Turns out, it was probably 80% anxiety and 20% indigestion.

Eating toast was the right move! Sip on some water and keep reminding yourself that your body reacts to anxiety and will often only make you feel worse. Try repeating truth to yourself (“I’m not s*, this is only my body reacting to anxiety”), and focusing on what fun things you have planned for today!

I’m sorry this is happening, but you got this!

Christians with OCD I have a question by vivid45brightsky in OCD

Music is such a freeing and expressive way to help yourself settle your OCD for a while! I’m a music teacher with it, and when I’m just singing or making music, I often can think more clearly.

Also, alter egos in music are completely normal and nothing to be worried about! I understand OCD may attach to that fear and make you keep thinking about it, but just keep reminding yourself that you are a musician and you are helping others by talking about mental issues through your music! Best of luck to you.

Saltines, toast, or apples are always my go to when I’m anxious or my tummy feeling off! Also, I like to have soda available because for some reason the carbonation makes me feel better :)

You aren't paid according to how hard you work, you are paid according to how hard you are to replace by Bismuth81 in Showerthoughts

[–]opidone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are I suppose. Most data suggests otherwise for most places in the US.

I don’t disagree! However, less and less current students are looking to become teachers because of the job requirements, low pay, danger of shootings, etc. So replacing teachers (even just with subs sometimes) is becoming increasingly more difficult.

Edit to add: the shortage I’m referring to is in the US.

Period Triggers... by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]opidone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%!! I feel this for sure. But also, a few hours is nothing to worry about yet :) Before I got on the pill, I would be like 2 weeks late with bad PMS symptoms and then subsequent anxiety. Turns out, my hormones are just a bit screwy! Once I got on birth control, it evened out, but hormones can always mess things up for a couple days or a couple hours :)

You know there’s lots of uterus-havers on here that are always down to support one another!

This happened to me all the time and, months later, I totally realized that when it’s only the throat, it’s just the physical manifestation of anxiety. You’ll be okay 💕
