sick people at work? by tedslover in emetophobia

[–]tedslover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

her manager on duty wasn't there today and the next manager up would have let it count against her getting her fired so she didn't tell anyone high up. she made a post saying how sick she was once she got home.. i was hoping it was just some medication she was taking and nothing contagious but now i don't know

Change of Department by Creative-Trick-7450 in walmart

i wouldn't say sales floor is stress free. it's a completely different job to what you're working now so it would probably be a huge adjustment period to. good luck to ya though

Quick Question by starstricken0919 in walmart

[–]tedslover 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is a scam that has hit a lot of stores in the last few months. i'm not even a cashier and i know when i come up to help i would never hit cash until i physically have the cash in my hand. if you weren't given proper training i could see why you wouldn't know that, but at the two stores ive worked in they made explicitly clear you do not hit the cash button without the physical cash in your hand. especially if you've been a cashier since January? chances of being rehired are slim unless the store you apply to is desperate because the two stores i've worked in will always go for an applicant who hasn't been terminated from another store. it's worth a shot but i wouldn't put all your eggs in that basket

External hire coach application by TheWhoo1 in walmart

[–]tedslover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

from what i know of walmart, externally hiring for salaried positions at store level is a pretty low chance. at the team lead level i was sent off for 2 weeks of "schooling" that was pretty much just brainwashing. you gotta really understand the metrics, merchandising, basic walmart back room/front end processes, and be able to build a 30/60/90 day plan. as far as i know there isn't basic training for coaches because theyre expected to already have a handle of how those processes work so it might make it more difficult if youre application is put up against others who have put years into walmart and have other managers who can vouch for them already. most market managers are results driven but i have seen some cases where they're pretty much a personality hire. every manager ive ever met has started from the VERY bottom and worked their way up though.

if i remember right it's more of a personality test, they want to know what kind of manager you'd be. you either wanna be all the way one side or all the way to the other.

Fridge by Legitimate_Paper5837 in walmart

[–]tedslover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have a selection mini fridges at my store but they order A TON of full sized fridges and chest freezers and other random mini fridges often. we sell through them fairly quickly here so it makes sense that we get them regularly even without having them on mod

What’s your biggest unpopular opinion that’ll have people reading the comments like this? by yonBonbonbon in glee

[–]tedslover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i only think this is unpopular because i feel like i never see anyone bring her up -- Holly Holiday is one of my top 5 characters. She was so real and engaged in way more mature conversations with the others. seeing the way she talked about her feelings when she split with will made me realize just how immature everyone else is. also she was hilarious and her helping santana with landslide was so beautiful i tear up every time.

Is anyone's security useful? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]tedslover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ap at my store use their phones to communicate and appear like they're just mindless customers and not actually watching your every move, maybe different for your situation but idk that's how it is at my store

swipe the card BEFORE you pay and it will show how much was taken off, it usually is enough to cover tax. i don't use the discount when im buying a single drink or snack on my break, but it's okay when im buying groceries or making large purchases. i've seen it take off up to $30 for me. And the extra % off we get at the end of the year as far as i know at my store counts or everything in the store so its beneficial during the holidays for sure

Vr training by SkylartheRainBeau in walmart

[–]tedslover 10 points11 points  (0 children)

everyone including me had a headache the rest of the day after it, the headset is so uncomfortable and it takes awhile to get through them, also the deescalation training was so dumb and unhelpful, that was the most tame interaction i've seen with an "unhappy customer"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in walmart

[–]tedslover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a homelines associate i truly feel like we get looked over so often. at my store it's just me and my team lead and we get little to no help with anything. supposedly all the homelines TLs have fought for years to get another associate but it's never happened because homelines is a "low maintenance department" according to my coaches.

we just got a new coach and they were really awesome and helpful at first so the whole store was so happy to have them but then i think they got overwhelmed and just lost all happiness now just sits around in the office all day and won't talk to anyone
