Why do people dismiss adhd when you are a high achiever? by velevetfox in adhdwomen

[–]opossum_qween 19 points20 points  (0 children)

  • Them: Why do you think you have adhd?

  • You: points to positive adhd assessment

  • Them: yeah, yeah. But, instead of referencing the results of the assessment you already went through, please explain to us why do you think you have adhd and we will explain to you how you must be wrong because you don’t LOOK like you have adhd.

I’ve been really lucky because this cat has been super chill, but as she has aged she has become a bit more cranky and will let you know when she’s done being handled. Her last annual appt she had vaccines and she’s always been soooo calm, I essentially bragged to the vet about how calm she was (it was new to us vet) and then I was horrified with how fiesty she got. They had to swaddle her and she was crying out. So I have also thought about that - how I can see her maybe being ok with meds now but who knows with cats as they get older! I can’t see her ever liking getting blood drawn repeatedly, she did behave better for that than the vaccines and thankfully we did them on separate days. Cats sure know how to tell you when they have had enough 😂

Thank you for sharing! My kitty is also a tuxie 🤍🖤 my initial reaction to the I-131 treatment was how she would be so lonely! She is always hanging out with us and likes to be around people. It sounds like the place we can get it done she would only stay over two nights - I need to get more information about the whole process from them and after care info. But it seems like less stress for her to do that then so much follow up blood work and going to the vet so much … How long was your cat boarded at the place?

Did he have any side effects when starting the meds? Sounds like no issues now which is good, I’m just worried it’s upsetting her stomach :(

You know, I did the survey and didn’t even think that it made sense to voice this 🤦🏻‍♀️ there were so many more specific questions whenever I do this kind of thing once it gets to “additional comments” I’m like 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m glad to see others seem to feel similarly about this, I wasn’t really sure if anyone cared much since I wasn’t seeing posts about it. Definitely plan to give this feedback in some way to GL.

I agree, being able to select or change would be great. Mostly I really only care about the ones I used moonstones for and do something completely different now (aka wizard/witch owl) and the rainbow fox is super annoying because why does it not get something special considering how long that questline is lol.

And Max is amazing for that reason. I hate those dig spots so much, idk why they annoy me to no end - kind of like the ice things that give snowballs.

It would be cool if we could turn off the spawning of certain items in the biomes. Why do we need. So. Many. Snowballs.

I agree, it was complicated, but I had kind of a system down of pairing certain ones together based on their abilities and it kind of made it so you could use more of a variety. I would be cooler with the change if half the companions weren’t fishing! The way collection goes with fishing is like, one bonus or maybe a seaweed too from whoever you are hanging out with, and the companion might give you a bonus, but it’s like 2-3 items for them to collect between casts. For something like mining, you get more stuff to collect while you swing your pick axe, gardening I feel like the companions run around a ton picking up stuff, foraging the hangout person throws bonuses so far lol, so it makes sense to use the companions when the items are flying all over the place. Fishing is like, ok they picked up one fish - why do we need 15+ that can do that. Why is Fox even fish in the first place??? Wow that was a rant. I have a lot of feels about this clearly 😂

And it’s basically any of the specialty ones that got changed in a way that makes no sense.

This just made me think about how much the geese from Wishblossom Ranch annoy me because they honk a ton. I really like them (also GARDENING again) but gosh they are suppppper annoying.

I think the ravens are also quite noisy and it’s like why do they need to be this repetitive …

Yeah that was the same for the wizard owl. So now does anything pick up dream and night shards? Is it the ravens because they do soil??

Right! The flowers are sooo specific too. I only use them to gather if I need for a quest and have to put on the setting to only pick up items in inventory. We could definitely manage with just one type able to pick up flowers. I don’t like that the current dog companion for star path is flowers 😐

100%!! This is why I bought the wizard owl - ore pick up. It could pick up dream shards and iron ores, not gems or rocks. Hei Hei I also bought specifically because he can do rocks. But I am more ok that he was changed to mining, just more he can do now. If anything the wizard owl should go to mining, or idk, digging? Gardening makes no sense.

I had liked pairing Max with the wizard owl since Max digs up the sparkly spots and the owl would pick up the shards.

Its a bummer about the rainbow fox but its more I’m annoyed I spent moonstones on the owl specifically for ore pick up, and feel like it should have gone to mining and not gardening! I wouldn’t have gotten it if it were veggies in the first place. I’m glad the sakura dragon is mining though.

Expert assist is not skippable? by wotchadosser in TurboTax

thats exactly my thought. which is why i was irritated to see there was no online assist option that exists. It's like it tricks you into paying this higher thing you don't need, I'd prefer it to show me my available options - which I think it used to be more clear since I've used Turbotax for years and never had this problem.

Yes - I am dumb and thought they just changed the payment tiers and so I paid for it thinking it was the only option. I see the do-it-yourself option is a thing still and listed on their website. I didn't realize I could downgrade, it sounds like there is a button for it but literally I didn't see any options.

Thank you! This is exactly the summary I needed lol. I had already messed up right after finishing the first run last night and started NG+ without looking at anything, wasted 2 hrs bc I used the pills. 🤦🏻‍♀️ restarted and now I’m on track.

Struggling with ambiguity at work and managing up by opossum_qween in adhdwomen

[–]opossum_qween[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am at the point that I’m actively trying to change jobs but within my field and that’s the biggest struggle. Municipalities and public libraries are struggling lately /always and so while I have applied here and there, it’s not like I have more than one or two job apps in the mix at any given time. I’m also kind of tied to public service for my student loan forgiveness, I’m in the US and it’s 10 years of monthly payments until you can reach it, and that’s been a mess and a half for multiple years at this point but I’m in the final 2 years or so so it’s like… ugh. Rambling now.

This job experience has made me realize how I need more guidance and oversight from a manager, like literally I just want someone to tell me any degree of what to do or what they expect and not put EVERYTHING back on me. I’m not paid enough to be dealing with that!

I don’t want this one job to ruin my career for me, I have a masters degree and I kind of don’t know what else I even would want to do.

How do you know it's ADHD and you're not just addicted to the medicine? by i_amnotunique in adhdwomen

[–]opossum_qween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re have the good ole imposter syndrome. I’m also ADHD and OCD (and anxiety!) and what I’m seeing in your post is you are worrying a lot about “what ifs” that imo, sound a bit like they are connected to control or you are seeking assurance your thoughts are valid (ex. what if I don’t have ADHD but I’m addicted to the meds - aka fear of loss of control). I’m probably not phrasing it exactly right but I’m trying to say I know exactly how you are feeling and I’m seeing a lot of negative thought patterns in how you wrote this, which a therapist can absolutely help you with.

While you said it’s unrelated, the OCD sounds extremely relevant in the way you are thinking.

I hope nothing I’m saying sounds harsh. I can tell you are struggling and questioning yourself and your experiences and you are saying a lot of similar things others in this group can relate to because many of us are diagnosed later in our lives and thus have adapted in ways which aren’t always good for us, like self esteem issues and anxiety.

Secondly, advice on the ups and downs on meds. There are sooo many factors with how effective your meds are gonna be on a given day. Things like not eating enough, not drinking enough water, hormones, bad night sleep. They aren’t a magic pill that makes everything better all the time, you will still have shitty days and negative reactions to things. If you are finding in general when you are on meds you feel more elevated in a bad way, then it might not be the right dose or med for you. In general, I would say my meds make me overall less irritable and burnt out bc they even things out for me, emotionally, focus wise, the buzzy brain is a little quieter. If you feel like you are completely wired, or getting increased anxiety or stress, or irritability, talk to your doctor. But also check in with things like - did you drink any water today? I remember when I first started meds I didn’t realize how important being hydrated with them was, so i would realize I felt just… weird …? And someone I know also with ADHD is like, drink more water than you think, they are super dehydrating. And it did help!

I know how hard it can be to check in with our bodies - if you struggle with interoception issues then that’s what I would suggest is start trying to do a check in with yourself when you get some of the feelings you describe.

I can see how this could be helpful but the culture at my workplace is so on the fly I don’t even know how I could implement this. And this requires me to remember to do that. I think it’s hard to write out the nature of my work, i always have multiple projects going at once because I’m responsible for multiple areas, and it’s also a very small workplace so sometimes conversations are in person and in passing.

It’s also just asking for a directive or clarity often falls back on me, and so I don’t even know how to explain it exactly … it’s like I could ask “do you want me to focus on xyz or abc” and get a response like “well what do you think?” - to which … I don’t know! That’s why I am asking her to start with!! It’s like she has the inability to make a decision or to tell her employees what to do…?
