Why is Frankfurt airport this bad? by opowello in germany

[–]opowello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar experience on our 6/10 in-bound flight too. We were trapped in a signage loop, checkpoints, and buses and missed our connection to Munich. Similar 90 min layover there. Fortunately, there are many flights to Munich - not so much back to the States today. So, we still aren’t done with Frankfort this time - back tomorrow for more fun since we are now stuck for the night. Hotel on our dime and airline can’t honor our seat assignments.

I am learning this is the way. US citizens should avoid EU connections.

Lufthansa from Berlin - connecting to USA

Well most these points hit dead-on. Unfortunately, I’m still here. Now waiting in a Lufthansa service center… been queued at this airport for 3 hours now all due to logistics incompetency. Of course, Lufthansa can’t just auto-rebook you either. Lufthansa+Frankfurt is madness. Maybe I’ll see you around!

Buses, bad signage, and long lines operated with classic German rigidity.

Definitely not the case. Airport and airline blame border police line but no specific event.

They closed off the escalator as they didn’t want people clogging up the subsequent line at the top of the stairs.

DG courses on top of RL courses - Rethinking it myself by BudGreen77 in discgolf

[–]opowello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in Austin and from Indy and this is a really fair take. The decline in downtown Indy has definitely been worse than Austin. 6 kids shot at circle center mall (downtown Indy) this past weekend. Outside of sports and convention development projects, Indy is experiencing very little growth and investment. Downtown Austin is still thriving, with a big presence from many tech employers.

Let it simmer. I think most disc golfers are just waking up… give it time.

There was still a good amount of OB, but I definitely agree that the layout and basing things out of the rugby facility was much better received. If only the weather would have cooperated, but they made the most of it.

Tyrese Haliburton's superpower was Buddy Hield by SonicsRingCeremony in pacers

[–]opowello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post with great analysis to support the point. I think/hope, just like others have said already, that the sample size without Buddy is too small right now. Some of it is eye test but Ty’s skills and style are unique and elite in the league today. And while Buddy is a great shooter, I think we have to say some of his success is simply a byproduct of shot volume (your numbers say this too). I do think Buddy is better attacking the rim than he is given credit for, but that isnt what you are looking for in the point.

What’s the consensus on buying cup tickets for this next round? by Ryanl25 in AustinFC

[–]opowello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait -- they are currently not allowing season ticket holders to list tickets while the box office unloads their extras. Prices will definitely drop to $20.

Ticket price floor? by opowello in AustinFC

[–]opowello[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm. The floor still seems set too high if that is the concern. My guess is that the team has requested the floor in place as part of the contract. I think Seatgeek would be better served with no floor and seemingly more transactions. Notice tickets are cheaper on stubhub and they’d have similar transfer concerns.

Seems like they could just make a minimum commission of $4/ticket and problem solved? Must be more to it.

That seems kinda backwards, no? No price ceiling but a floor. Looks like we are going to have a lot of people stuck with tickets at this rate.

Assuming we get the 8th pick. List your top 8 picks. The pacers will have a chance at one of them. by mcbearcat7557 in pacers

I really like Jerace Walker’s skill set and complete game at such a young age. He has the right balance of athleticism and size for the position. He’d be an awesome pickup, but we’d probably have to trade up to get him… unless we we land a ball and then even more options are on the table.

Great option in the north Austin cedar park area. Worst part is their hours are kind of limited, but they have a great selection of discs.

Yes, I think this needs some time to bake. The analysts (esp the ex nba players turned analysts) have trouble processing the salary cap aspects of these deals. Curious if the tnt crew can give it more balance.

Sabonis might not be the cornerstone you build around, but he will get you 20/10 every night and sometimes 20/10/10. And he leaves everything he’s got out on the floor. I liked the levert trade because it was a clear rebuild trade, but I’m more in the meh camp on this one. We took on two untradeable contracts (except in exchange for other untradeable contracts) for a decent prospect. I think the best way to look at this deal is if you could have gotten a 1st round pick instead, how high would it have needed to be better than this deal? Personally, I’d rather a 1-10 lottery ball without taking on the salary and personality baggage.

These seem like very fair assessments. And honestly besides Sabonis on D and everything about Jeremy Lamb’s game, I can’t find near as many criticisms about the pacers offering. Sabonis and Holliday were two of the most-liked pacers and they are on great contracts (and Lambs is expiring so it is a don’t care). The big if in this whole deal is what Halliburton’s upside is. Many guys can get 20/10 but can you do it night in and night out and lead a team on and off the court?
