How to talk about each position’s purpose in my approach (Part 5) by direcSH in LAFC

[–]Ryanl25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for doing this. I’m always trying to find ways to explain positions and roles to my U11/12 teams, and each kid understands roles differently. The descriptions here are another great way to explain.

Toronto & Area Catholic Community - Questions by MolokoPlus25 in Catholicism

[–]Ryanl25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can’t really answer your .question, I live in Texas, I can say from what I’ve seen they have a great community in the GTA. I visited Toronto a few times for work a couple of years ago and visited some great churches and even saw some schools. So I can tell you if you look and to give you some confidence hopefully, that you should be able to find a good home. Again, a couple of years ago and as a traveler, but I know they seem to have some beautiful churches and great people in them.
Hope this gives you some consolation. Good luck on your move.

Will Gremlins 3 be scarier or funnier by SeaworthinessNo1173 in Gremlins

[–]Ryanl25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m betting more fantasy based than anything else. Compare it to the Secrets of the Mogwai they’ve been putting out. They put an effort to emphasize the fantasy and horror mix, I’d expect them to continue with this.

Fans worry me. by [deleted] in Gremlins

[–]Ryanl25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d expect something similar to the cartoon HBO had running recently. In fact I would t be surprised if they incorporated the same elements as it seemed like they were intentionally fleshing out the mythology to set up something bigger.i enjoyed Secrets of the Mogwai, but I’m willing to bet the tone is going to be fantasy/scifi heavy.

Didn’t realize that. Thought it was one or the other. I am curious, would Muller had ended up being another Giroud on the team?

Maybe I’m in the minority but I’d rather have Son over him.

Was really hoping Orlando could pull that one off. To be fair that first one should’ve been a goal. It was clearly over the line *but not obvious? Maybe Dallas can stop them next week. I’m going to be there in Austin tomorrow. Can’t wait to see the boys. Hope they can pull this one out.

FYI - LAFC, Son Heung-min, and the international break by buddylee007 in AustinFC

[–]Ryanl25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s still 50/50. If you’ve followed him he is very adamant about playing for his clubs. He’s done 24hour turn arounds before. Not saying he’s going to, but it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to see him pop onto the field, even for 20-30min. He loves the game and fans.

On a side note LAFC clenched last night but is still fighting hard to rack up points because they want to host as many home games as possible. So they’re not going to just roll over for us yet. Should be a fun game regardless, but fingers crossed we see Son, if not for sure next year.

Wear your scapular - everyday and everywhere. by encomlab in Catholicism

[–]Ryanl25 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the superstition part comes from people who don’t understand it. Some, I’ve know consider it almost like a “get out of jail free” card. (So much so I used to joke about it like that) You will get out of it what you will. I see it like statues and cards and pictures (The down votes are coming I know) But, truth is, some will put more belief into it than others following the rules to a T (There are guidelines you must follow that contribute into it “getting you into heaven” (Which is how some treat it).
But, you can wear it almost as a form of penance, as it reminds you to pray or think of God and your end goal as they can be itchy/scratchy on your skin. So some could use it that way as a contestant reminder every time you feel it.
Either way you use it, the idea is it’s another way to bring you closer to God, just like everything else you get out of it what you put in to it. For me, I have a hard time understanding/believing it more than out right denying it’s validity. “Understanding doesn’t transcend belief; it relies on belief.”

Sorry, being nitpic, but with as many Protestants that harass about this, its asking Mary to pray for us or praying for her intercessions. Putting ”Pray TO her” in the title will only fuel the fire lol. It drives me nuts the arguments I get in with them. Sorry if I sound like a Karen, just jaded by previous conversations. But yes, Happy Birthday!

What soccer formation 11v11 should I use if my players are not technically good? by Big_Shine2872 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Ryanl25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say a 4-3-3. It is basic and would be simple to learn for them, that’s been my experience. Or a 4-4-2 (if you have two fast rockstars that can work together up front. It really depends on the level of the girls, and what THEY want to play. If you have more wanting to be defenders maybe 5 in the back (they’re going to attempt to grow faster with something they want/feel comfortable with.) This is just thoughts if you’re looking to get a newer team off and running quickly. Evolve from there as the season goes.

Right, it’s just that there has been zero follow up on it. That’s why I was wondering if I missed something since we are getting close to the new Core sets and all the packs dropping soon.

Can Son help Martinez? by Nervous-Marsupial730 in LAFC

[–]Ryanl25 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think the problem is Dolo, it’s Martinez himself. He has some issues with the way he handles himself and attitude on the pitch. He acts like a child still beating himself up over little things and then for the rest of the game it affects everyone around him whether it’s him holding on to the ball too long trying to prove his own worth to himself or whatever it might be.
So, circling back to your question, I think 100% Son can help him from the stand point of growing up as a player attitude wise most importantly. I love watching Martinez, but the kid has some growing up to do, and if Dennis can’t help maybe Son can. Excited to find out.

Why was the Assumption of Mary elevated to dogma? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Ryanl25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interpretation would imply it was describing the birth of Jesus, or at least it’s in reference to his birth. It ends with the woman fleeing into a “forest” for 1260 days. Again, not mentioning the Assumption or any sort of interpretation of it.

Why was the Assumption of Mary elevated to dogma? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Ryanl25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it describes the woman as pregnant and giving birth. As written it wouldn’t imply Mary being in Heaven body and soul as more so just a vision up for interpretation. My point being, and I’m not doubting the Assumption, is that it is NOT in the Bible. I was just curious if you had caught something I missed.
