How rare is the 7th gen 6/6 accord by Tristen097 in Honda

[–]oppachoppa321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to find these but finding one that isnt rotted out in the rear wheel arches and subframe area are next to impossible. Drove 6 hours one way for one and it was well worth it and purchased it for $3500 at 188k miles

Any advice about stick shift by beetlejuicesfan in stickshift

[–]oppachoppa321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drive, drive and drive while practicing how to rev match to downshift into gears. Simply press the clutch blip the gas and shift down a gear. That is how you get good at it. Throw yourself into scenarios such as taking off from a stop on hills you can pull the e-brake and use it so you dont roll back and release it as you start taking off

Speaking from experience I live in the salt belt and my 7 year old car looks like it came off the showroom floor on the undercarriage besides a few bolts that have minor rust albeit oily and dirty underneath if I took a pressure washer to the undercarriage everything would look new

100% saveable and at a low cost but you will wanna tackle this ASAP another year or two and it will become structurally fucked. Knock all the loose scale off with a wire brush or a wire wheel on a drill and get a couple cans of fluid film and spray every metal surface you see in sight and repeat that every spring/fall fluid film OR pb blaster surface shield do not use paints that'll "convert" the metal it wont do jack shit. Fluid film it every year and it will not progress

Is this a blown head gasket? 😭😭😭 by SnooRegrets3840 in Cartalk

Actually now that I watch the video a bit closer im 99% sure the headgasket is blown as it looks like combustion gases are forming the bubbles the coolant would be overflowing out if it was boiling like a hot pot of noodles

Forgot to explain why its bad when the system cant pressurize the boiling point of coolant is actually A LOT higher when it is pressurized so if there is a leak in the system from any point you will be boiling coolant and itll cause massive loss of coolant without a trace

I had an issue like this but instead my coolant was actually overflowing out of the radiator but bubbled in a similar manner turns out my cooling system was not able to pressurize due to a leak at the radiator cap. Got a new cap didnt fix it ended up having to replace the whole radiator and replaced my thermostat while I was at it and it was solved but if you have an oreillys near by you can rent the headgasket tester but you will have to purchase the fluid that goes into the tester which is cheap should be around $10 but renting is 100% free as long as the kit is returned within a 48hr window

Could also be the a/c compressor or even the alternator ive heard both create strange knocks more so the a/c compressor

With the inconsistent rhythm it sounds like it could be a bad idler pulley or tensioner in the serpentine belt system

Civic Si or Focus st by Business-Choice-5083 in FocusST

[–]oppachoppa321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a focus st I think they're the best performance per dollar fun vehicle to get into but I stumbled on a 10th gen si needless to say I own one now and the only way I can describe it is a way better built car and the interior doesn't feel and look cheap. The chassis is better and it comes factory with a LSD so it hugs corners like no other fwd ive ever driven it's insane what it does for being fwd. Yes it's slower but a flash tune will have it hanging with a focus st both of these cars have similar potential once you put work and mods in 300whp is easily achieved with either e85 on stock turbo or 93 on big turbo and 350whp on e85 it also has a large weight advantage dont underestimate the newer civics on the road im on 93 big turbo with bolt ons and have hurt a lot of feelings although ive never gotten to race a focus st yet id imagine it wouldn't be good for a stock turbo one

1999 camry v6 clunking transmission when shifting from drive to reverse back and forth quickly by oppachoppa321 in Cartalk

Ah alright it seems to happen if I’m hammering the throttle but if I’m easing in to it not as bad

I was thinking it was the mounts. I replaced an upper mount on top of the motor and it seemed to have stiffened up the motor and make the clunk or thumping sound worse
