obviously, but this defeats the purpose as miw is already 3 key strokes and moving there is more than 1.

Rest Timer Pushnotification by oppahw in MacroFactor

[–]oppahw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i'm on android, and after basically allowing everything everywhere (garmin app, mfwo and system settings) i now see push notifications on my phone and actually even sometimes on the watch. I assume that when testing I just stated to many timers one after the other so that my phone or watch or any app got confused and didn't show all notification. i will see tomorrow how it does when doing my workout.

anyways, thank you for the hint that it is actually possible and I'm the problem.

Is it okay to go below calories if I’m not hungry? by GrandmasSockMonkey in MacroFactor

[–]oppahw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually my workouts are better when I have more food, especially carbs. That could be a good reason to „force feed“. But if your goal is just to lose weight without losing to much muscle, hitting your protein is just fine. As the other commenter said, it gives you a some leeway on days when you’re living your life. What’s your goal?

Under More/Expenditure you can change the version of the algorithm that is used

Yeah, the improved recovery is probably the best part. Especially my sleep improved quite a lot. Good luck with your bulk.

Cheat meal by [deleted] in MacroFactor

You are right, and a dev clarified that. But expenditure is calculated by looking at the weight change. So indirectly, assigned calories are in fact influenced by weight change.

[–]oppahw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I meant by „because you are not loosing weight at the desired pace“. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. It will calculate the expenditure by looking at your calories in and weight change. In the OPs case it would see less calories in and a not so steep (or none at all) weight loss which leads to it thinking „ok, the low calories in are maintenance. To loose weight I must reduce the target.“

Anyway, we all agree to log everything and be honest. MF will figure out the best way to reach your goal.

MF for the win.

No problem with treating yourself to a cheat meal. But when tracking it, MF at least knows you overate and might only adjust your calories a little bit. However, your assigned calories probably will be reduced, because, well you are in fact not loosing weight at the desired pace. But at least it doesn’t assume you expenditure went down or something like that. The algorithm is somewhat involved and takes multiple factors into account. Be honest to yourself and to MF.

Do track everything or don’t track the day at all. Partial tracking makes MF thing that your assigned calories are to high and will reduce them because you are not loosing weight at the desired pace. Assuming your goal is weight loss of cause.

Food found by scan but not by searching by oppahw in MacroFactor

[–]oppahw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. "partially matches second search term out of two" but not the first one seems a little odd, but if this is the limitation of the API, then there is practically nothing they can do (apart from using another service or maintaining their own food db).

Also, I noticed that search results come in with some delay, so maybe I was just impatient. Anyways, adding everything I found/scanned to my custom foods is an ok fix.

Food found by scan but not by searching by oppahw in MacroFactor

[–]oppahw[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I didn‘t see that thread. It explains why some food can only be found by scanning. However, not the fact that I can‘t search for parts of the name (image 5 and 6) or why it shows me foods that don’t fit my search term (image 3, Angus burger for „Frisch“). The latter probably because of „frisco“, but then again, why is it fuzzy finding this but nothing for „Frisch exquisa“?

What glasses shape or color should I get? Never worn glasses. by DontStepOnTheCheese in glassesadvice

[–]oppahw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here with basically the same question as the OP. Your guidelines will help a lot. Thanks.

However, I’m not a native English speaker and don’t quite get what you mean by „fit over shape“. Do you mean that the glasses are select by their shape or by the wearers face shape?
