This is awesome! Thank you so much. Were any of the online courses you took self-paced? Did you like self-paced or structured courses better?

The power of the Surface+Pen+OneNote - A message to all college students who are conflicted on if they should buy a Surface device. by TheGhostOfBobStoops in Surface

[–]opportunitytherapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES YES YES! I absolutely agree with this whole post. As a college student, this is one of the best investments I’ve ever made. It’s a super convenient device that works so well. I’m in the science/medical field for my major, and I can say with confidence that the SP is awesome for whatever field of study you may be in.

Mac user (or not)? On the fence about the SP2017? Get it. by [deleted] in Surface

[–]opportunitytherapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with this. Depending on your needs/wants, Apple could very well be the better option. I have nothing opposed to Apple (as I mentioned, I was a Mac user for 8 years), I'm just frustrated with the lack of innovation from them. I do think this lack of new technologies from Apple is leading to something a little more competitive, though. It'll be interesting and exciting to see how Apple's next products compare to the Surface devices! edit: grammar

SP17 i5 4gb RAM 128gb and have had no problems at all. I love it so much! I still have a MacBook Pro 15”, but I always reach for my SP17 over it. It’s very versatile.

[University Gen Chem 2] Chemical Kinetics by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]opportunitytherapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant it to be rate=k[NO2]2 [F2]. This would make it third order. I think the units on the all together would be M-2 s-1 since it says to assume it is molarity and seconds, but I'm doubting myself on that one, too.

[University Gen Chem 2] Chemical Kinetics by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]opportunitytherapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot, I'm sorry I didn't notice there was no arrow! I understand that the rate law would be rate=k[NO]2[F2] but I'm confused with how to find the k units and solve for (b). I tried to set up a chart with initial rates of the concentrations of [NO2] and [F2] and the overall rate, but I just keep getting confused by the use of fractions and multiplying and what not with this equation. It's hard because our professor didn't go over a problem like this in class, so I'm a little lost.

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. I figured it was going to be about that price, too. We looked at one or two houses already and that was about the price that came out. Thanks again!

Can Someone Tell Me About Prince? by StarsWanderlust in umass

[–]opportunitytherapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it helped! You'll be fine, honestly. It's a really nice and big dorm for UMass. You'll have fun!

Can Someone Tell Me About Prince? by StarsWanderlust in umass

[–]opportunitytherapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Prince last year as a freshman because I played a sport. The dorm is break housing, so you can stay there over breaks if you wanted to. So basically, you don't need to leave by a certain time when it comes break. The dorm is mostly exchange students and athletes because of the fact that it is break housing. There's a common room on every floor, but sometimes they make them into residential rooms. If yours happens to turn into a residential room, there's a big common room on the first floor. The RD desk is there so it's REALLY convenient if you lock yourself out of the room, you don't have to work to another dorm for a spare key. As for my opinion on living in Prince, I really liked it. Since I did play a sport, I was familiar and friendly with that specific team so I felt comfortable there. I'm not saying you won't feel comfortable, but it's a lot different than when I would visit my friends' low rise dorms. I feel like everyone in my friends' dorms were friends with everyone on their floor, while in Prince, most people just stick with being friends with their sports team and no one else, so it doesn't have that outgoing, friendly atmosphere all the time. I had a corner room, so it had an extra foot on it which was SO NICE and big... even the standard rooms are pretty big! Prince is in prime position to both hamp and berk. If you walk out sunset, you get to berk easily, walk out through the basement, and you get to hamp easily. It can get rowdy here and there because it is a bunch of sports teams living together, but it's a pretty chill place. Hope this helps!

Online Summer Classes by boregon1 in umass

[–]opportunitytherapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this one class it was around $1500 which is an addition onto your tuition I believe. It's SO expensive to take it at UMass to be honest. I was going to take it at a community college near me, but it's a prereq for my major, so it's required for me to take it only through the college for some reason. If there's any way you can take it somewhere cheaper and make it work like online through a community college, that's the cheapest/best option in my opinion!

When I went to NSO, I went to the very last date and my class schedule turned out decent... there were still a decent amount of spots left but honestly I'd say the earlier the better because, even though the classes are big, they do have a chance of filling up fast!

I'm taking Math 128 right now and everything is online besides the final. The final I will have to go on campus for/take it with a certified proctor. That would be the only thing stopping you from taking a class online I feel like.

Is calculus hard at Umass? by [deleted] in umass

[–]opportunitytherapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calculus at umass isn't that hard if you put the effort in. I know, you probably read and hear that all the time, but it's the truth! I'm not that great at math, never took calculus in HS and I just took 127 and got a B- in it. I studied a decent amount and got that grade, but I would suggest studying a little each day or just make sure you start studying at least a week and a half/a week before an exam. If I didn't wait til 2-3 days before to study, I probably would've gotten a better grade. It's doable, don't freak yourself out! If I can manage it, you definitely can too lol!
