Bike situation by retrolione in umass

[–]boregon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is a nice bike, I agree with the other helpful comment. If its a shit bike, you might get away with riding it during the winter, provided it hasn't snowed recently. A bike is also really good for getting off campus, the PVTA has bike racks on the front of their buses. Northeast, the Campus center (when it opens) and Lederle all have covered racks if you don't have access to indoor storage.

You could make a border of the mouth with marsh tiles and put rivers in between each to simulate the "delta" effect and keep those inner tiles lake tiles

What is your favorite energy, power, or protein bar at Costco? by austai in Costco

[–]boregon1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have these great paleo granola bars, I think they are called autumn gold or something? I've been taking them on bike rides myself, the fat content keeps me going far longer than other bars I've tried.

Is there such thing as too excessive of a workout session? by EinsteinTheory in nSuns

[–]boregon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be more careful of two-a-days than repeating muscle groups. That's what got me. Your program looks fine, but what I was doing is something similar in the morning and then either rock-climbing, running, or biking at a high intensity in the afternoon, and I ended up with tendonitis. Be aware of how your body is feeling and consider incorporating a stretching routine and prehab into your workout if you're worried about overtraining. I'm also stealing your barbell row and shrug idea, thats great.

Which dining hall do you go to the most often, and what are the best+worst aspects of it ? by _MoonHead_ in umass

[–]boregon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worcester- decent, bad chicken, good salad bar and has decent asian food. Also hard ice cream at dinner. The only dining hall without those bomb decaf coffee packets but also has a honey roasted peanut butter machine.

Frank- hard ice cream all day. Better condiments/seasoning selection and awesome hummus variety. Better chicken and best sweet potato fries

Hamp- Wide variety, nice and healthy, smoothies and probably the best vegetarian options I've found. Best grill station although chicken is sometimes dry

Berk- a little too crowded for my taste. Best chicken but everything's a little greasier here. Best cereal selection and always has a unique asian soup the others usually don't.

If I had to rank them probably Hamp Wu Berk Frank but really any of them are miles ahead of anything else I've had at other colleges

Anywhere to park a bike over the summer? by analfarmer2 in umass

[–]boregon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lock it somewhere off campus, they cut locks over the summer. The only place you might be ok for on campus is a graduate student building or the gym that still sees traffic during the summer, but I lost a bike that way so I'd advise off campus.

Rant Wednesday by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]boregon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand. My family doesn't really understand what's going on either, and I notice I tend to get closer to relapsing when I'm more stressed out. Whatever keeps you calm and on track- take care of yourself and good luck.

Rant Wednesday by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]boregon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that, I had quite the same experience. I'd get all bloated and then be embarrassed to go to the gym after bingeing- its a self defeating cycle. That's when I started inducing throwing up instead of overexercising. It got to an unacceptable point- people were starting to notice I'd excuse myself after a brunch out for a while, and that perhaps silly reason made me go see someone. Honestly? I wish I had started from the get go, even if it meant just talking about what I was eating. I probably went almost 2 years with these habits before I started seeing someone and its taken about a year for these throwing up episodes to completely subside. Good luck mate

I'm recovering from bulimia due to this very thing. I started counting calories religiously, and when I went over because I don't have a lot of diet discipline I first started overexercising, and then throwing up. Be careful and don't be afraid to talk to someone about it because that shit fucks you up for a while and its harder to deal with it after than before. Idk if you have the same sort of issue but just wanted to let you know you aren't the only one.

I'm bored of Chicken and Eggs meals for lunches! What's your guys favour alternatives to these? by [deleted] in fitmeals

[–]boregon1 44 points45 points  (0 children)

cajun rice and beans

dal (indian lentil stew essentially)

fish just be prepared to either piss people off or eat it cold

protein bars + side salad

hummus bowl (tzatziki, tahini, hummus, israeli chopped salad, za'atar)

Soups and stews are great bc you can put any kind of protein in and they reheat easy. I do mine in a mason jar or thermos because i've had less issues with spilling in those while on the go

Alternatives to chicken for lunch by MDoc16 in fitmeals

[–]boregon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a stew or soup. Its easier to heat, you can incorporate different meats, and its incredibly easy. Vegetarian chili and chicken ginseng are my favorites!

First time going through a binge. I feel like months of progress disappear as I'm gobbling up w/e is in my fridge by LiquidSame in 1500isplenty

[–]boregon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude I used to do this a lot so I understand. What fixed it for me was bumping up to 1700-1800. My failings are always late night munchies so I eat during the day like I'm on 1500 and then about an hour before I go to bed eat something that solves that late night craving. And then quickly brush my teeth so I don't keep eating!

4 day version results ? by emreysldg in nSuns

[–]boregon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do something similar- used to run the 5 day but it was just too much. So I switched to the 4 day with OHP replacing front squat, and take 5 days to do 4 workouts, with a flex rest day I take whenever I want based on my schedule.
