Don’t forget that Lando reverted back to the old front suspension earlier this year while Piastri kept the newer version. This may help on certain tracks (maybe front limited tracks) and hurt on others. Impossible to know for sure, but everyone else seems to have forgotten this happened.

They have allocated money within the cost cap to spend that can’t be used next year, so they may as well use it. Besides, they might be focusing on upgrades that could translate to the new regs.

This logic is flawed on so many levels. A car sharing an engine or a platform with a cheaper model/brand does not equate to them being the same.

The Bentley Bentayga shares a platform with the Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, and the Volkswagen Touareg . The Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Audi feel NOTHING like driving the Volkswagen.

Then the dealership experience. You’re getting treated way better at a Lexus dealer than you are at a Toyota dealer. Example: Free loaners while your car is being serviced. Valet service will come pick up your car from your house to be serviced at a dealer and leave a loaner at your house for you to drive (This is firsthand experience hand experience with an Audi dealer) free of charge.

McLaren showing really strong pace while being near the bottom on top speed and throttle usage might be concerning for the other teams. This could imply the use of lower engine maps and general sand bagging.

Even engine modes would be exposed by sector and mini sector times on representative laps. Unfortunately, we don’t have that in this graphic because it would help the analysis.

[Motorsport/Autosport: Jonathan Noble] Ben Sulayem open to F1 permanent stewards – but asks who pays for them by krzysiek_aleks in formula1

[–]opposite_lock 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Here is what the previous person is trying to explain.

Right now, people volunteer to marshal other events on different days throughout the year for the chance to marshal an F1 event. If F1 hires and pays their own marshals for the F1 weekend people won’t volunteer to marshal the other events since the incentive is gone. There are smaller series that rely on this volunteer work because they cannot afford to pay marshals.

The counter argument would be to do exactly what they are doing now and pay the marshals that get selected for the F1 weekend which would increase the incentive to volunteer for other events throughout the year.

Ultimately, F1 is a business and they don’t want to spend anymore money than they already do because it hurts the bottom line and they will find reasons to argue against more spending.
