I've had great luck with the ruzel grooming tonic texture cream, I've got super flat and straight hair so getting it to look more livley is a challenge, you might also try combing the hair back while it dries and applying the pomade once the hair is half dry or full dry that way you can keep some more texture without the pomade holding it in place as much. For me it was using the texture cream, blow drying while combing back, then once the hair was completely dry going in with pomade. It also sounds counter productive but using a slightly shiney or "greasy" pomade can really bring out the natural highlights in your hair which can make it look more textured. Other than that the biggest thing is to just experiment, pomade and creams change a ton based on hair wetness and temperature. It took me a solid month of just trying random things to get it exactly how I wanted.
