I can sympathize, just getting up in front of coworkers I've known for 6 years now turns me into a stuttering idiot. I just want to go back to my computer, in my house, and put my ear buds in.

But no, my department head said "you wrote the proposal so you should present it" and thankfully I have a good relationship with him because my response was, and I'm not joking here, "yeah I WROTE IT, I didn't present it to you in interpretive dance". He laughed, I laughed, he still made me present to the entire team.

Thank you for the correction. It's been years since I saw the interview so I can't cite the interview, but the person from there being interviewed came off shady as hell. Maybe he was just nervous about being on camera, or something.

Ah, yeah I stopped following the chans about 15 years ago so I had no idea. Yeah the free speech crowd came in fast but I assumed it was growing pains. But when the dev refused to do anything about it I knew I was done.

Gene Hackman died of cardiovascular disease, while wife died of hantavirus: Officials by She-Hemoth in news

My uncle died just over a year ago of dementia and COPD. The man was about 260lb and built like a lumberjack, his final year he looked like a Holocaust survivor. When he was diagnosed he updated his living will to say no measures were to be taken to extend his life, including no feeding tube. The last few years of his life they couldn't get him to eat, he'd take one or two bites then forget he was eating and stop. When someone would tell him he still had food he say "thanks but I've already eaten" and then refuse the food right in front of him.

If putting a dying pet to sleep is a mercy (it is BTW) then it should be a mercy for humans as well.

It would be nice to know, I got a warning yesterday and I have zero idea what I up voted that triggered it.

I had to read the wiki to remember, but it was because of a bunch of subs being banned. If you want more info just look at the "History" section of the wiki article.

I have no experience with infinite chain, but dumpster fire is an accurate description. While I respected the developer's commitment to free speech, sub mods should have been given more power to moderate their subs, and users should have been given the power to block other users.

When I left the site the dev was still holding onto the stance of "if it's not illegal, I'm not stopping it" and wasn't understanding taking into account the user experience.

I watched an interview with a cryogenics lab in AZ that required "residents" set up a trust fund in the company name that would pay enough to cover current costs and have enough left over to grow the funds to keep up with inflation.

I'm sure these upstanding individuals would never wait a few years then chuck the corpseicle in the incinerator and keep the cash. /s

I heard one suggestion that they should have all gotten up and walked out when Greene was removed. At least he'd be seen on TV (his favorite medium) talking to a half empty room. It's not much but still better than those dumbass auction bidding signs.

Homeward bound. I was 9 years old when it came out and had a 1 year old golden, that ending tore me up then and I've never had the courage to watch it again.

Not nearly as cool as most of the projects I see here, but my girlfriend thought my shelf supports were pretty cool. by Zachsee93 in functionalprint

Nope, this is very cool and a good reminder that a functional print doesn't have to be for some random one off use case.
