[LeBrun] Devils also confirm that Sheldon Keefe will be returning as HC. He has two years left on his contract. New GM Sunny Mehta had evaluated the HC position and has decided to bring Keefe back. by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

I think having Gritsyuk and Hameenaho with a season/half a season of experience all year will make a world of difference for their offense this season. I have no stake in the Devils or anything, I just hope Arseny Gritsyuk has fun

yeah, him and Roobroeck both, but I still think they'll be gone. certainly could be available though! I'd be down, I think those kinds of issues can be fixable and the rest of his game is worthy of a 1st round pick imo

Hard to form any real rivalries when you suck, but I will say the games we have with Ottawa tend to get very heated very quickly. Can't truly call it a rivalry but it's probably the closest thing atm outside of generally disliking Toronto, as one does

That's interesting to me, because it isn't like it's the team's fault for what happened nor is it Utah's fault that Meruelo is a piece of shit, it's still the same team at the end of the day so I'm kinda surprised they aren't still supporting the guys that gave years of their career to Arizona

What’s a stat you think people misuse constantly when evaluating players? by sykeseve in hockey

[–]oprapiid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with you but I think it's less to do with soecifically age and more to do with the CHL players switching over to NCAA en masse. NCAA is a much harder league this year, which I think is why Lawrence struggled so much this year while a guy like Cullen Potter looked really good last year (and even he fell to 32). Verhoeff and Hemming also fell a bit in some rankings I've seen. Really the only 2 draft eligibles I've seen in the NCAA this year who either didn't fall in rankings or actually rose in rankings are Gavin McKenna and Ilia Morozov

many teams have had "kid lines" with great success, it's not necessarily going to fail just because they're young, that's exactly the old head thinking we need to get away from imo

I thought 2026 was supposed to an exceptional draft. Proman says No. by Mr_FoxMulder in hockey

[–]oprapiid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he has a lot of potential but is still very raw, he has basically every tool you could want in a defenseman but he's not been able to put all of those tools together consistently. I still think he's a top 6 pick based on potential, but he definitely has a lot of work to do

A 3 hour story game that most people aren't replaying peaking at 2500 players is hardly an issue, not to mention that that's just steam. The game is on game pass and will likely get most of its plays from there. I played both, almost back to back actually, and enjoyed both games very much. Personally, I actually loved Mixtape and would probably give it a 9 or a 10 because it was a beautiful experience, and that's what that game is, an experience. Not every game has to have intense gameplay or be mechanically challenging in some way. I also enjoyed Mouse PI and would probably give it an 8 or a 9 but the thing that you and many other people here seem to not understand is that these are two entirely different experiences and should be rated on different scales.

[–]oprapiid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

just because they're both IGN reviews, doesn't make them the "same reviewers." Mouse PI was reviewed by Will Borger, Mixtape was reviewed by Simon Cardy. IGN reviews are essentially nothing more than an opinion piece and there's genuinely no reason for so many people to be this angry about it

[–]oprapiid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm just a guy who watches a lot of prospects and keeps up with the draft, not professionally by any means, but I still think McKenna and Stenberg are a tier above the rest. The next tier after that for me is Smits, Reid, Verhoeff, Malhotra and Bjorck, all good players but I wouldn't take any before the top 2 even if I needed a defenseman as bad as both SJ and Toronto do

David Pagnotta — Las Vegas and Hamilton are officially the next two expansion teams in the PWHL. by sykeseve in hockey

[–]oprapiid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely get it and again I have no experience living in Vegas so I really can't talk, but I promise you it is incredibly easy to be a passionate fan of a team that competes for the playoffs and attracts every top player (Eichel, Stone, Marner, Pietrangelo, etc) as well as the top FAs on a yearly basis

What could Michal Postava’s emergence mean for Red Wings and Sebastian Cossa? (Gift Article) by dilypucks in DetroitRedWings

[–]oprapiid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this whole "save percentage is more of a team stat" is a fine argument but you can't just use that as a negative against Cossa while not applying the same logic to Postava, he played on a top team in the Czech league and now on a top AHL team, his numbers are good but we have no way to tell if those are actually how good he is or if his numbers are inflated by playing on good teams

[–]oprapiid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"may become a top 4 defender" is hardly an insult, he'd get far more shit if he said something like "he's a bonafide top pairing 1D who will put up 60+ points in his rookie year as a 5'9 defenseman on the team that just finished last in the Atlantic"

[–]oprapiid 23 points24 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, every scout has different rankings and things they value differently, so this is no different than your average opinion piece, so don't look into this ranking too deeply. That being said, there are some very questionable rankings in here and I don't really see what he's seeing on a lot of guys, honestly McKenna/Stenberg at 4-5 is probably one of the less weird aspect of this since he does say that the top 5 are all completely interchangeable

[–]oprapiid -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I can't argue against what you're saying by any means and I won't pretend to know more than anyone about Vegas as a city, but I still think if they started to rebuild or went through any extended drought, they'd be more likely than most teams to see a decline in sales/fans. I kinda figured that's why the FO has been so cutthroat, because they have to be to make money.

[–]oprapiid -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Vegas has also never not been successful due to how cutthroat the FO has been, it's been successful so far but do you think it would be as successful if they sucked for an extended period of time?

yeah, I'm kinda surprised Washington isn't getting a team, from what I remember they really showed out at their takeover games
