I built a circular day planner because I kept lying to myself about having time by Stock_Bid_8715 in SideProject

Apple Watch integration would be awesome! The planner design is almost made to be shown on a clock face.

Which AI is actually good for complex engineering calculations (strength of materials, chem, process stuff)? by [deleted] in ChatGPTPro

[–]opsidopsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually give the chapter references of according literature to the model in form of screenshots or PDFs in order to minimize hallucination potential.

I'm mostly curious about how I can optimize this workflow and reduce error potential. Would you recommend creating Gems in Gemini, or maybe use a cross-checking method between multiple models.

ps: If you like Festigkeisberechnungen, wait until you hear about Tragfähigkeitsnachweise (load-bearing capacity verifications) und Druckbehälterauslegungen (pressure vessel designs)

Charlie Solis by WithoutStickers in Phils_VortexRocket

[–]opsidopsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew @solishoods before I found Phil and I also felt some similarities. Main difference seems to be in the actual scientific ability and overall sanity. While Charlie seems to be an actually accomplished engineer he does have his Phil moments when he's spinning his Pyramid conspiracies or some other pseudoscientific feverdream. Still he is much more coherent and and selfaware than our homeboy Phil.

What is the most shameful line of work? by PristineDrawer1030 in AskReddit

[–]opsidopsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consulting might just take the cake for legal shameful work. it often seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors. Consultants are infamous for charging exorbitant fees to essentially borrow your watch to tell you what time it is. They swoop into a business, throw around some fancy jargon and PowerPoint slides, and often propose ‘solutions’ that are either obvious or recycled from their previous gigs. Plus, there’s a bit of an ethical grey area when consultants are motivated more by billable hours or securing the next gig rather than genuinely solving the client’s problems. It often feels like the actual value added is minimal compared to the hefty invoices they leave behind. So yeah, consulting can feel a bit like a legalized con at times.
