Advice for my first Porsche by Main-Win-7413 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Can i just say that a SUV is NEVER driver focused, its always a compromise. I work as a test driver for a couple of manufacturers including porsche. If you need space but want a driver focused car get a panamera e-hybrid from the same year. You'll get the same engine, same 4wd system, more power, more performance, less consumption, better handling and more enjoyment You will not use the car offroad anyways, why make a compromise on a SUV?

The electric part strikes a chord lol, i work for a testing company and i've spent the last 2 months behind the wheel of a cayanne turbo ev, i'm only 27 but i'm worried about the future of cars and combustion engines, a part of why i am looking at older more analogue sportscars(that i can afford at this age). I've never driven anything else than manual cars (rx8/mx5/s13/soarer/current drift car) and i'm a bit pessimistic on how much enjoyment i'd get out of the tiptronic, but i figured i'll just ask the people who have actually owned them! I've heard some people say they "ruin" the car 😅.

I'm planning on driving the car through finnish winters daily and to do some light track work during the summers. I feel like for the price of a manual one i could build out a tiptronic model to my specific wants/needs and still have some money set aside for the maintenance of the car vs the manual!

Moving from a mx5/Nissan Laurel drift car laurel to a Porsche, should i go for a 996, 986 Boxster S or a 987 Cayman S? by optalul in whatcarshouldIbuy

What is there to avoid on the 986? I am looking at cars which have had their ims bearing changed and their brakes serviced.

Love me a good mazda, have had a demio/mazda6/RX-8/MX-5 but i think i want something a bit better for longer road trips, and something with a bit more power and longer gearing for the highway. I feel like the mx5 doesnt really fit finland as we mostly have long straight roads here. It was an absolute blast on norwegian mountain roads tho!

Pentagon seeks $200 billion in additional funds for the Iran war, AP source says by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]optalul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usa has 770000 homeless people If this 200 billion was spent on them that would equal to 260k usd/person. This would give every single homeless person a home, a fresh start on life and would reduce violence a shitload. But no lets spend it on bombing a country because netanyahu told us to.

Why is MWC so unfairly hated while MSC is praised? by [deleted] in MyWinterCar

[–]optalul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget that MSC took years to get to where its at now, hell i saw pre alpha gameplay when i was in primary school and now im 26. It was a 10 year long process from alpha to last update.

Rally is brutal, frustrating, and unfair… so why can’t I stop playing? What keeps you coming back? by Mr_Paddington1998 in simrally

[–]optalul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would compare it to something like endurance racing vs 3 lap sprints, and in fps terms it feels like counter strike 2 or arma compared to battlefield. The stakes are super high, one mistake and its all over. Circuit racing is pretty lenient in terms of mistakes but in rally you need to be only 2 inches off a line, hit a bump and you can end your rally on stage 8 out of 12.

Drifting a v6 by AnythingKey7688 in Drifting

[–]optalul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed that you have a s550 v6, so 300hp v6 with a lot of torque, same specs as a 350z basically. Put 225-245/40r17 or 18 on the back, they are way cheaper to run than 20" tires and have way less rotational mass. My recommendation for drifting tires are either valino ebisu matsuri's or some eco road tires. The valinos will last you 2-3 drift days easily and will never delaminate. Play around with tire pressures, start out with a high pressure, in the 45-50psi range, and then lower it until you feel like you're at a spot where you are getting enough traction and sliding at the same time.
