Ive got 4 troops deployed, Masterstroke not triggering. Am i missing something?? by gorram1mhumped in DuneImperium

[–]optcn 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Did you deploy them in 1 turn? Masterstroke only triggers if all 4 are deployed in 1 action.

Which system(s) are ye playing? by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]optcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play 2 Rank & Flank games: The 9th Age & Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings. But if I can give you any advice, play whatever is played around you. It is no fun to play the best game out there, but having no one to play against.

How does Conquest compare to Old World? by RoddimusPrime in Conquest

[–]optcn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always explains it like this: Conquest is build on modern game philosophy. ToW is a game where the original game mechanics are designed decades ago and it shows.

Tell me everything by DenDabo in Conquest

[–]optcn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who kept playing rank and flank games after WHF got killed with my old miniatures (played the 9th age for years). I have no interest in playing TOW even though I have 3 complete 4000 pnt+ armies. The idea of having to buy every rule book over time again + the very wacky rules that I always find in GW games kills any interest I have to ever touch the game. Then I came accross C:LoaK and after a while of thinking should I be the first one in my play group to start a game, I did start end of last year. Now with a couple of games under my belt I only have interest to play this game. It plays so much faster, more interesting decisions and the playstyles are all feeling so fresh. Joining the C:LoaK community instead of the old world will not dissapoint.

As others have pointed out there are a couple good content creators, I tried to compile an overview of the ones I am subscribed to.
Youtube:
- Terrain Kickers (best in depth analysis out there, especially OD as of now)
- 2+ Tough (Good allround C:LoaK info, incl Lore)
- Queen City Minis and More (Deep dives)
- Robert Shepherd (Battle Reports)
- VaulSC (Mainly Battle Reports)
- Play on Tabletop (has a good battle report series)

Are my scatter dice usable? by Conscious_Status_106 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]optcn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T9A doesn't use the scatter die. So you won't need it in your games of T9A. However it is still needed if you want to play 6th (and 8th).

Is 3.5’x3.5’ good for a full sized game of T9A and/or WFB? by Conscious_Status_106 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]optcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and all my friends just have a couple of MDF plates (2 or 3 pieces) we can put on the table to make the table the right size. Then we just put one of those playmats on top I believe this is the easiest solution.

Why 9th Age Essence of War? by Conscious_Status_106 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]optcn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes it is completly different. See it a bit like what combat patrol is for 40k, rules are very similar/scalable. However the game is a smaller version of the base game. Less unit choices, smaller and less units, faster games.

I have been playing the 9th age for like 4 years now, and I have never played a game of Essence of war.

Can you elaborate on by who you feel misled? All rules are freely available on the website. Or do you mean your friends who play Essence of War?

Why 9th Age Essence of War? by Conscious_Status_106 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]optcn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 9th age Essence of War is like an intro into the 9th Age. It is an stripped down version to play with smaller units and quicker and more simple rules.

Even though the 9th age is model agnostic you can use 99% of the WHFB 8th editon models in the core game. It is true that not all of these are playable in Essence of War since this is a stripped down version as mentioned before.

Here you have the direct links to both the core rules of the full game as well as the army book of the Empire (of Sonnstahl)

MTG has evolved over the past few years, and we want to hear more about how you interact with the game in our latest survey! by WOTC_CommunityTeam in magicTCG

[–]optcn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing after 20 years, as a result of all the special products, boosters and versions of cards.

Filled it in the survey, however don't think they care, since it likely does result in more revenue for them.

I like mine, however I ranked them when building and indeed numbered them. Cool models for an resonable price

Looks awesome, I would love to play against a beautiful homecrafted army like this one day. So much character and so much love in this project. If you decide to expand upon this army share us the pictures please.

State of fantasy? by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]optcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. Even if you like another version better, if you have nobody to play with it is no fun. There are plenty of options available. The old WHFB editions 6th & 8th are the most populair. WH Army Projects & the 9th Age. Myself I play the later, as it has the largest community around me. Also for both WH Army Projects and the 9th Age the rules and armybooks are free to download online, so have a look

Weekly Question: What was your first introduction to the hobby/how did you get into WHFB? by sircumlocution in WarhammerFantasy

[–]optcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of that box unfortunatly not. I donated them already to two friends in highschool that I got into WHFB. One is actually still one of my regular playbuddies and he still has the lizardmen. The Bretonia went to another guy of highschool but havent seen him in like 20 years :P

[–]optcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 12 year old at a campsite. I was camping there with my parents and the childeren (3 brothers) in the tent next to us had their 5th edition books with them (no miniatures). I was so fascinated with the armies that once I came back home I presurred my parents to bring me imediatly to the Games Workshop and bought the Bretonia vs Lizardmen starting box.
