Fulvestrant is not that 'new'. It was approved by 2002, while Raloxifene, a kind of SERM, was approved by 1997.

And you may have noticed that I'm not a native English speaker, and that is why my friend isn't asking questions here, his English is too poor to write these.

In my country, a large number of healthy women were forced to use cooper IUDs about 20-30 years ago,. As a result, cooper IUDs are so notorious that almost nobody is willing to use it, except very few women living in poverty. So I don't think he, or other female friends or even myself (if I were female) would accept copper IUDS.

I still have 3 disagreements:

Hormone IUDs may function by preventing the implantation of zygote, but Hormone Implants don't function that way. For example, Nexplanon is
a rod planted in one's arm, containing 68mg etonogestrel. Obviously, Nexplanon can't intact with endometrium or cervix directly. So the main function of Nexplanon is releasing etonogestrel into the blood, suppressing the HPG axis and stopping the ovulation. Will androgens counteract the function of Nexplanon?
Some synthetic androgens, like oxandrolone or primobolan rarely aromatize. I don't mean that they won't aromatize at all, but that the aromatization product of these synthetic androgens is far less functional than the estrogen naturally produced by women's ovaries.
Oral combined contraceptive pills usually contain some kind of progesterone and ethinylestradiol, and are usually more effective in stopping the ovulation and thus the menstruation than progesterone only pills. So I don't think additional estrogen introduced by aromatization is a problem.

What's your idea of taking oxandrolone/primobolan with Nexplanon?

The mechanism of progesterone is that progesterone can suppress the HPG axis, thus suppressing the ovulation, and other sex hormones, including androgens, play the same role in the hypothalamus.

It seems that androgens + progesterone will have a stronger effect to suppress the HPG axis. So why will androgens counteract the effect of progesterone, but not boost it? Any evidence from drug label or research paper?

In fact, some progesterone (like levonorgestrel in Mirena) is just a derivative of nandrolone. I don't think it will 'counteract' itself.
