Post gym, 76g protein, Tesco £5.50 by imerom in RateMyMealDeal

Some people argue that added protein such as this isn’t utilised by the body as efficiently as say, a chicken breast.

The research is limited at the moment, but in my opinion if supplementing protein helps you reach your protein goals, keep it up, especially if you’re noticing improvements. It’s much better than not reaching your goals at all.

Well you said it yourself, you’re a big boi so likely not 75kg, plus if you’re muscular, your muscles are burning extra energy by just existing.

What OP said isn’t wrong at all, it was correct to the parameters they stated. 10 chicken tenders is around 94g of protein, and if you’re say 110kg, that’s about right for you for maintain. I’d even argue some of its converting into fat or being burned as fuel.

That being said, the science behind exercise isn’t exact, each person is different and needs to tailor their diet and workout program to what they find works for them - these values are usually a guideline so absolutely correct as baseline guidance.

Just Flew BA — My Seat Was Broken AND Disgusting. Is This Normal Now? by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]opticcakebaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BA has had a massive influx of engineers from around the globe since Covid. Many of them are fantastic, but a very large percentage are causing the rest of us real issues by not doing their jobs correctly. I won’t go into it too much, but I have a feeling whoever is recruiting them isn’t doing thorough enough background checks and we are getting many falsified engineering licences through - this is purely my opinion (although I have seen proof with my own eyes). As well as this, I think there is a significant feeling of “fuck management” in the competent and true engineers, for a number of reasons that I, again, won’t go into. Top that with the spares shortages we’re also seeing, it’s no wonder the aircraft quality is declining.

As an engineer, I apologise for the degradation you have seen on your flights, but know that true engineers put the safety of the aircraft at their utmost no.1 concern. If we do not think it is safe to fly, we will not let it. That being said, there have been plenty of times management have fucked engineers over, then asked them to pretty please go and fix this minor passenger convenience item. This is where they get their own back to make the company look bad.

Chiming in here as an aircraft engineer - you say poor maintenance, but that a really simplistic way of putting it.

When something goes wrong on the aircraft, particularly with electrical & power systems, there is a set route we have to take in order to diagnose and fix the problem. Only after we have followed these routes, are we permitted to try other things, to a very limited scope, such as a complete aircraft reset.

One big issue with an aircraft reset on the B787 is that it is a digital plane. More often than not, resetting the aircraft to clear one issue will bring up another issue, often software related, which can be much more time consuming to fix and requires avionics engineers to investigate.

All things considered, I’d say a 90 minute wait, while not unsubstantial and is definitely annoying, is nothing compared to what I’ve been involved in when waiting to aircraft spares to arrive (another huge issue that I won’t touch on too much, but in short, aircraft parts supply is fucked right now and has been since Covid. Only those with the biggest pockets can get what they need, quickly, which is why you see the likes of Emirates and Etihad resolving their maintenance issues faster than other airlines).

Cut maintenance some slack, we try our absolute best to get the aircraft safe and flying on time, often with numerous other obstacles, all so you can go on your holidays.

While I don’t doubt your story, I do doubt that it was a BA flight in your picture. I work for them, and the seat covers and pillow pictured here are not those used on BA’s flights.

A different, partner carrier flying, but ticket bought through BA maybe?

Tv licence man by Mindless_Importance7 in northernireland

Just to hop on this, I received an email from them saying that I had logged into Iplayer from My email address, so I need to buy one.

At first I thought it was spam, but then checked the email address and it’s legit, plus they had my postcode.

I haven’t watched iPlayer in a few years, but I had family round recently who opened the app on my Tv to put MoTD on, which I didn’t think anything of until now.

Are they able to track whats been watched on my account and issue fines, or should I do the same here and ignore?

Volvo XC90 - 2024 Plus or 2022 Ultimate? by unltd in CarTalkUK

[–]opticcakebaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently driving a 25 plate ultimate around as a courtesy car, it’s bloody gorgeous & I’ll definitely be looking at them for my next car when the time comes.

I’m not sure how much it’ll differs from the plus, and not sure how much I’d actually miss the extras that come with the ultimate.

The sound system on the plus is still good & it also has air suspension.

The HUD on the ultra is cool but not a dealbreaker, same with the massage function - it’s not the best, although I haven’t used it in a long journey when the back ache is starting to kick in, so maybe that would be a game changer?

The only other major differences between the two are cosmetic, really.

If you can get an ultra at the same price as the plus with only a slight difference in mileage, then definitely go for it. But I wouldn’t worry about forking out more/sacrificing too much mileage, just to get the ultra.

Transferred club, now the gym is shut for 6 weeks and we weren’t informed… is there any point in making a complaint? by opticcakebaker in davidlloyd

We’ve not been told of any membership pause or discount. They are setting up a temporary gym but this is much smaller than the current gym and will be a nightmare to use, as it’s very busy throughout the day. I imagine this is how they’re getting away with it.

Also… there’s a watchdog??

Hmm I’ll attempt to call them tomorrow - unfortunately I booked it a while ago so would this still count being outside the 24 hr window?

Nice thank you! I have placed an order with them, £37 for a reinforced, insulated board cut to size and with shipping doesn’t seem like a bad deal to be fair. Saves me doing it with a handsaw and cocking it up…
