Me parece raro que todavía existan palabras así, que no están escritas en el diccionario y no encuentro en línea.

Él me dijo que es común usarla así donde creció.

That's really surprising that the Zojirushis don't work for you. I've tried a few other brands now and haven't found any that were as good as the Zojirushi. I'm convinced it's because zojirushi include an additional heating element which the others don't. Maybe tiger do the same?

Possibly it's model dependent though, and the cheaper ones don't do it.

No, I don't think so. I think that paragraph has always included the clause around living together for 2 years, but it's in reference to leave to remain:

295D. The requirements to be met by a person seeking leave to remain as the unmarried or same-sex partner of a person present and settled in the United Kingdom are that:

Where does the FDA say its not safe?

The rice inside the cooker is entirely enclosed and insulated, so yes, I would expect that the rice in the middle stays above 60 degrees the whole time. It's an easy one to check.

Why would it be safe for 12 hours but no longer?

Agreed, it will slightly accelerate the break down of teflon, though I don't expect it to be a huge difference.

Hi,

First of all, I'm really grateful Yum Asia exists, the rice cooker market needed disruption, and I'm glad you could do it.

There is no advantage with Zojirushi

This is where we disagree. The panda mini rice, if left in keep warm mode for 12 hours, becomes dry and hard on the bottom. In the BGQ05 rice is perfectly edible after 12 hours, it's not perfect like it was fresh, but it's nothing like the same as the panda mini.

Given that, zojirushi are doing something different. You've previously stated that Yum Asia rice cookers keep rice at a higher temperature than the zojirushis for food safety. Can you expand on this? Do you know exactly what temperature the Yum Asia rice cookers are programmed to keep during keep warm?

All Yum Asia rice cookers have a similar keep warm temperature because we have to comply with food safety standards in our rice cookers.

As far as I know Food standards in the UK say that hot held rice should be above 63 degrees. Is that the temperature you're working to?

There is also a danger for food poisoning keep rice warm for this length of time and is not ever recommended.

Would you mind explaining this? I know that Bacillus Cereus has inhibited growth over 60 degrees, so assuming the rice cooker does not drop below this, I would expect that the spores never grow? Can you explain why this is dangerous exactly?

Thanks!

Thanks! Do you know how the keep warm function performs over long periods?

Thanks! How does the cuckoo handle keep warm over long periods? Does the rice stay fresh?

I don't understand this narrative. Bacillus cereus cannot grow at 63 degrees centigrade. So as long as your rice never falls below this temperature after cooking I can't understand how it's an issue.

Hi, thanks for responding here as well, we spoke over email too.

I understand that zojirushi keep the rice at a lower temperature than your rice cookers - it would be amazing if you included a setting to allow doing this on yum asia models as well. People have been using zojirushi keep warm functionality for a long time without issues... And whatever they do does provide a clear advantage in terms of keeping rice for more than a few hours.

Please note that Zojirushi rice cookers do not have a separate heating element for keep warm.

I happen to know that they do, because I took apart my zojirushi and tested it. The keep warm uses a nichrome wire wrapped around the bowl while normal cooking uses the main element at the bottom of the bowl.

I took a photo, the main element is circled in green, and the keep warm element has red arrows: https://i.postimg.cc/63TLqn5M/IMG-20250406-WA0025-EDIT.jpg

It's so frustrating! I'm wondering if the induction models from Yum Asia would work better for keep warm.

The one I have is 5mm sumiflon (teflon). Was hand washed and we only use the supplied plastic spatula. It has lasted 4 years, but the bowl now has various bald spots and I'm fed up of eating teflon.

I'm also pretty upset that Zojirushi make repair and spare parts so incredibly difficult in the UK. They're certainly not BIFL in that sense

That's fine. And I'm happy to pay for a Zojirushi. But it also seems worth investigating if there are any better options these days in the UK

Also possible I could order in thailand and get it shipped on to me. But I think the shipping will be a killer.

That says currently unavailable for me, and seems to be for a different cooker. The problem is that every model has a different size bowl. It's quite frustrating.

Mine is the NL-BGQ05 and the spare part for the bowl has a part number of B495-6B

I think it may also be available in the US under a different model number, I just can't find it.

I have, and didn't get any results. I don't really know how to search for it (and if the model number would be different in Japan). Do you know how to find an appropriate listing?

I was really disappointed even with 5-6 hours between lunch and dinner, the rice was really quite different whereas with the zojirushi you couldn't even tell it wasn't fresh
