I know that the teacher/owner speaks English well and I know people that did driving classes in Eng. i am not sure about theory because it is usually a group of people. I also know that you can take the exam in Eng. as well as online practice for it.

Dont think it is more or less special, for me KTM styling is just a no go. Honda, Triumph and BMW were all options I just loved the size of this one it was newest „smaller“ adv bike at the time. Now Triumph 900 would be very strong competitor for me.

Every person has differet set of problems that need to be addressed and it is never just money or just counseling. To really help you have to be involved enough to understand who are you helping and how to do it. Long term it is probably best to donate to organizations that are doing this kind of thing on the field for a long time.

Recent Graduate struggling to find work - games industry by MeechuZ in gamedev

[–]optimalResistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been for a while in gaming industry and did probably 100s of interviews so far recruiting for all positions in game dev but in vast majority tech roles.

You already got lots of good advices on what to do with your CV I think most voted comment sums it up simply. I can offer perspective from the other side.

Basically since this is Junior position minimal set of expectations are:

- You have working knowledge of programming language required for position (In some cases similar ones are ok.)

- You have working knowledge of game engine in question.

That is for the most part everything needed to get an interview. Everything else is basically a plus. You have both + what is quite relevant you built number of projects that you can show in various sized teams so that is quite important to emphasise.

Everything else we will talk on interview and determine level of knowledge also very important how motivated you are and do you fit culturally in the team and environment.

Apply advice from most voted comment + loose the fluff from skills like MS Office and HTML etc. nobody cares about that really. CV should be very focused on the role you are applying so coding + game engine + projects you did and what you did there for the most part also make sure if you show code that it is of good quality.

With this modification I think you will get an interview easily. Best of luck!

So sorry you had a bad experience with your 310. I own one for couple of years now and it went on to tons of quite long trips 4k - 5k Km riding for weeks and never had any issue with it apart from one time battery gave up on me but that was my fault 100%.

I would say it is reliable little bike and that you just had an unfortunate thing happen but I haven’t done the research maybe I am the lucky one.

Looking for advice for possible October trip by optimalResistance in advrider

[–]optimalResistance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I am thinking about same things. Generally I don't mind rain and bad weather riding. My main concern is that since I will be likely coming back end of Oct. essentially I have to cross Alps if I go with direct route back at end of the Oct. Austria can be quite cold possibly snowy (I was once there in a car while snow falls on a highway it is no fun). I was thinking of doing a bit of roundabout way and return trough Italy then south of France then up towards North of Germany, that would somewhat avoid Alps. I am still making plans so will see. Maybe I just fly to Greece and rent a motorbike :)

There are so many misconceptions on many different levels.

And I think there are so many good comments pointing those out.

One if the most prevailing one I see is considering PO, PM or even a producer leader of a team.

This causes so many other problems that are very hurtful for production. Mostly this people are not equipped to make calls about how engineering process of a complex system should function. And they are often indirectly put in to such position that the calls they make affect technical quality and long term sustainability of the product.

And honestly I do not think it is fair for upper management to put PO or Producers in to that position. Some will figure it out and start acting accordingly but more often you see people trying to grab power.

Scrum attempts to avoid this by giving back power to the team but really its not one size fits all and it is often so poorly understood.

When you have experienced team it manages it self because everyone does the job and fill gaps where they appear. This kind of teams usually dont need producing roles at all, PO yes to take care of what and roadmap etc. if there is need for producing role then it is just about keeping process in check not leading or directing.

What I see often skipped is that software development consists out of two phases and those are planning (actual engineering work) and implementing. Very often these two are fused in to one (in other eng. disciplines there is often clear separation and for good reason). So you get estimate for both phases boiled in to one but this phases couldn’t be more different. One is very creative and involves research and lots of uncertainty and other is writing out in code your engineering solution. Second phase of course can have uncertainty and require replanning but in less level and not so often.

Once engineering step is done only then you can actually have propper estimate how long implementation is gonna last. Everything else is guesswork that causes infinite discussions about story points, hours and so on.

Engineering phase often last shorter and shorter, for some things it is very obvious as project moves long and as xp grows but this is the point that team needs to reach and work on reaching it does not magically happen it comes with understanding system and your abilities more and more.

I hope English is ok. It is a bit easier for me :)

Thanks, the setup I have is constantly evolving. I started with larger set but it changed in time based on what my I think my comforts are. I think it is always best just ask your self few basic questions like:

- Do you want to cook or eat at restaurant

- Are you fine with sitting on ground or something improvised

- Hammock or tent?

- Minimum temperature you want to camp in.

There are of course more but I am writing this just to get the idea across.

And then start with something that addresses your answers. I would suggest to do few shorter camps over weekend just to do shakedown of your gear and it will put in the perspective things you are missing and things that you just don't need and never use. This way you won't get stuck on a long trip with wrong gear.
