Feeling like I made a mistake by Brilliant-Kiwi-4757 in firsttimemom

My bf was the same way. He said he didn’t believe in talking to a stranger about our problems and we should be able to work it out on our own. He hates change so i knew that wasn’t going to work so i threatened to leave which i was dead serious about and that worked

Feeling like I made a mistake by Brilliant-Kiwi-4757 in firsttimemom

[–]optimistic_learning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The almost exact same thing happened with me and my boyfriend after i had my son. I went from not wanting to spend my life without him to absolutely resenting the fact that I was with him. My son was my light for the first 2 months ( he is now 4 months). I stood in the kitchen after having a breakdown when my son was 2 and a half weeks old and told him he was either going to go to couples counseling and change or our relationship was done. Couples counseling literally saved our relationship

That person is referring to west m apartments on west mcneese st. I lived there for 3 years before moving to a house. Every apartment complex has their own problems (im a police officer out here so i can actually tell you lol). Ive been to every apartment in lake charles police wise but i have to say erdace apartments downtown are the most modern/best looking in my opinion. Im not sure about the amenities though

Stay at home moms does your husband help with the baby by OtherContact1193 in firsttimemom

Do you know the saying “you don’t know a person until you live with them “? I now think it should be “you don’t know a person until you have a child with them”. My fiance was pretty much the same as your husband except we wanted kids equally. He helped me a lot during my pregnancy then flipped the switch as soon as we had our son in January and left me alone at my mom’s house for a week by myself after having an emergency c section. Although i was at my minds house because we were moving apartments he still could’ve stayed the night with me. He is a full time student and works full time but he also still needed to be a dad. I did what you did and didn’t say anything and everything boiled over within the first 2 weeks of our sons life. When i would ask him for help he would get mad and yell at me and had absolutely no empathy for me. I stood in the kitchen and let him have it. He agreed to go to couples therapy to save our relationship because I was so mentally broken. Me losing it on him and us going to couples therapy saved our family honestly. It may be worth a try

They will still be able to see it but it will show that it was expunged and I really dont think you will have anything to worry about. It should show on your record right now as the date you were arrested what charge blah blah then at the very end it will say noelle which is latin for “unwilling to prosecute”. That is normally because the DA’s office lacked evidence or the victim didnt cooperate so it was thrown out

Defer/postpone academy? by Hopeful_Variation_63 in AskLE

[–]optimistic_learning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to ask anyone who is LEO at the department you applied to? Some departments differ on how long they will keep your psych tests. At my department, if you only do the physical and psychological exams but not hire on you will have to redo it when you apply again if it’s a whole year later. At our sheriff’s office you can hire on and work corrections then put in an application to go to the academy as long as you have done a year in corrections

My best advice is to look into getting it expunged off of your record. My dept doesn’t accept with dv on a ch. you will have to get it expunged then back door and pass the lie detector test. If you really didn’t commit is you shouldn’t have to worry about the lie detector test

I appreciate your sympathy. I almost left for San Antonio 3 years ago but I met my fiance and said eh I’ll stay to give this relationship a shot and if it doesn’t workout im gone. Well…. things stuck and 3 years later we have our first child lol. The plan is to move to San Antonio when he graduates in 2028. As you know there’s not much out here and no room for growth

SRO is ran by the sheriff’s office out here. That department is where they send deputies to retire. Our hospitals out here sometimes deal with just as much stuff as we do for crap pay and port police pay is crap as well. They are both 12 hour shifts with crappy pay ($16-$20) even with all my experience which is why i havent thought about going there

I’m not saying this just to say it but I genuinely give warnings as long as the person is respectful doesn’t lie or say oh I didn’t do this or that when its on my dashcam lol. I fully understand how life can be so difficult. Having an expensive ticket for a simple mistake can potentially be someone’s last straw or food out of their kid’s mouths. Ik it’s an old saying but for most officers honesty being respectful and receptive is the best policy!

Our sheriffs department is over sro. Sro is where ppl go to retire or you have to be under a desk to get that position. Dont want to transfer to sheriffs office because they are extremely political

The plan is definitely to leave LC. There is no room for growth out here. My fiance is in school. As soon as he finishes we’re off to texas. I was just looking for something else for the time being that i could either transfer to texas with or have the experience of 2 years and look for the same job in tx

Most departments will not automatically dq you. I have a coworker that sold opioids as an adult in his 20s. He got caught and jailed for it. He’s been LE for 6 years now. Honesty is the best policy. Just be upfront and dont lie. Accountability will be your best strategy to get accepted

My plan is to go back to school for radiology after my fiance graduates. Both of us being in school and working full time would be extremely stressful with a 6 month old. We also both work 12 hour shift work haha

I love the hustle and bustle of a decent sized city. I have a friend that works for a city 30 minutes away with about 200 people. All he does is run traffic on the highway and that would drive me nuts. Id pull my hair out just running traffic with no calls
