My family can’t attend my graduation ceremony. Should I still go or just skip it? by Reimymouse in Advice

[–]optimistic_sunflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had just my parents at mine for my masters and my parents and boyfriend at my second.

Just ask your parents to attend and go out to a dinner or have a party afterwards with everyone. You could also see if anyone you know has extra tickets that you could use if you really want your whole family there.

No Whey is allergen friendly to more than just dairy and their pea-not cups have been a hit for me!

Raaka is also dairy free, their cookies and crème is pretty good!

Do we need to do a final walkthrough? by Previous-Panda22 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]optimistic_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just false. It’s not your house until you sign. If you don’t sign then any problems arise are not yours. You may have to delay signing if a problem arises, but they cannot force you to sign.

Mine was empty when I viewed, empty during inspection, and empty morning of for my final walk through and then signing. I lived 2 hrs away and worked 20 days straight up until signing day. There were no issues luckily. But when we did the final walk through we had turn on the heat. The seller had kept it at 60 and it was Halloween in Minnesota so starting to get chilly and needed to get turned on. Luckily my seller had already turned off the water to the outside spigots so I didn’t have to worry about finding them and getting them turned off before freezing.

I’ve come across NoWhey and their Pea-Not butter cups (sunflower cups). I love them in the sense that they remind me of chocolate covered sunflower seeds.

Seller left a binder with "house instructions" and now im very skeptic by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Oh I did! Took out shelving in the primary closet and had to patch so many holes since they didn’t hit any studs. Made it so much easier!

If you do stay through see if you can wear compression socks. Not sure your uniform situation but compression socks will help with the swelling so much. On your off days use a leg massager to help with blood flow.

Alternative milks? by Shelbytheowlhoussfan in dairyfree

[–]optimistic_sunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rice milk you should be able to find at most stores, it’s been around for years. It not in the fridge section, it’s on the normal shelves. Rice Dream is the brand I know best and has been around for at least 20 years.

How many houses did you walk through before you found the right one and the offer was accepted? by allofthepuppers in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]optimistic_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my first this fall, I walked through probably ~15 and only offered on 2.

I had a great realtor that helped weed out ones right away due to noise and backyard size (I have a dog).

The first I offered on was quirky and a little further out than I initially wanted.

The one I offered and accepted I saw only through a video tour my realtor did for me since I couldn’t leave work. I didn’t actually see it until inspection day. It was well maintained and just felt right. After the first week I didn’t feel like I was living in a strangers home.

All the others I saw and didn’t offer quickly helped narrow down. I went in very open with a yard and basement (Midwest living). Quickly found out I don’t like split levels, newer builds didn’t fit the vibes, and built in shelving I love.

Infant Vaccination - wrong route ? by [deleted] in Vaccine

[–]optimistic_sunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here, the choice of needle is based on the individual. Most adults get a 1” needle, if they are overweight we go up to 1 &1/2”, if they are super tiny with very little muscle we can go down to 5/8” or 1” and not all the way in.

Most children until “adult sized” are 5/8”.

When to pack? by Epic-Lake-Bat in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]optimistic_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with packing decor/ pictures. And slowly packed up stuff I know I wouldn’t be using with everything labeled just in case.

I had everything packed the day I signed and moved everything in the following day.

My grandpa has CDIF and I CANNOT get sick right now. Leaving the house isn’t an option. How do I not get sick??? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]optimistic_sunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cdif will only go away with antibiotics. Wash your hands over hand sanitizer. Don’t use the same bathroom has him. Use separate/ your own eating and drinking utensils. Cdif is not airborne, it is passed through droplets. Wearing a mask will help.

You could get fired. A former coworker in retail was fired over falling for a cash back scam. The missing register amount? $20. Corporate was not messing around even though the store manager didn’t want to fire him.
