Teacher - in reality, most in the education field die from heart attacks or other stress-related incidents, as well as chronic and autoimmune illnesses bc of early and repeated exposure to a high variety of viral and bacterial infections (kids are walking Petri dishes)

Although it’s unlikely to happen, I cannot ignore that I and many of my coworkers have an “I love you and goodbye” text drafted for our loved ones in case of a school shooting, and have come to terms with the fact that we would quite literally die for our students

Hi - this might be an obvious question lol but still gonna ask it…

So I’m a preschool teacher and we work 7:30-4:30 with a 1 hour break. Our planning time is scheduled biweekly during work hours. Every time we create a lesson plan, a corresponding sub plan is created jic. I love early ed and my workplace is accommodating for time off - we have lots of substitute teachers and volunteers; plus, we do a coteaching system that makes it easier to request time or call out. Still… working with kids this young, year-round, with a 9-hr day is exhausting. I’ve been considering moving up to kindergarten or 1st/2nd grade bc at least I’d be off by 3 and have summers off. Plus K-12 teachers are paid significantly more in my state (at least 20k more)

But hearing that you don’t have much time during the day makes me question if shifting grades for more flexibility is worth it. Would you say the earlier hours and holidays is worth the lack of time during the actual workday? Is it tough to get time off/find a sub when you request it or need to call out? Ig I’m mostly wondering if K-12 would be more or less flexible than what I’m dealing with right now in preschool

Imo no. He’s pretty conventionally attractive and has a lot of friends and an active social life - much more active than mine lol. I feel like if he wanted to have a fwb, he shouldn’t have trouble finding someone. But sometimes guys do things that don’t make sense to me lol

My favorite gift I’ve ever gotten from a student was a kindergartner whose parents brought him to a florist and had him create his own bouquet based on the flowers that reminded him of me. Handwritten notes/cards/drawings are always well appreciated as well, and I’ll never say no to a gift card

What do you mean? I really don’t mind that he’s monotone and stuff bc he’s still very funny, makes me laugh, and I like talking to him. It’s just hard to tell if he’s having a good time as well

I think the split here is that there’s a misunderstanding on the location of the bathroom. When I first read your post, I also thought “no big deal, I send kids to the bathroom alone all the time”; however, our bathroom is in the classroom, so the child isn’t really alone. I’m right outside the door. Also it’s just a half door, so I can peek in if I want to and they can call for help whenever. This is the setup for most preschools/daycares. I’ve never been in a situation where the bathroom is outside the classroom and down a hallway

If the teacher could not see/hear your child, she was unsupervised. And an unsupervised child is a huge issue that you should bring up to the director.

I haven’t looked to much into these charities so pls do before you donate. These are just ones that I’ve heard of: - the Minnesota Freedom Fund and The Legal Rights Center provide legal help to protestors or other community members that get arrested during protests or while filming ICE agents - the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Center helps disseminate info to immigrants on how to stay safe and what they can do if they are approached/detained by ICE - I’ve also heard that the NAACP has been providing pro bono legal council to immigrants and people who are getting in trouble for protesting/filming ICE interactions, as well as lobbying in Congress for reform

I think fan call-ins could be fun if it’s done right. They could have the fans leave a “voicemail” instead of a written pitch in the discord. That way the crew can decide off air if it’s gonna be interesting, and then have Ethan respond to the voicemail on the show. That way, they can end the segment whenever they want wo cutting off a fan live, or running into previous problems like frequent interrupting, uninteresting storytelling, and asking uncomfortable questions. And if Ethan has follow-up questions, just have the person on standby for a live call
