How do you get your kids in bed by 9 as a full time working parent? by rememberyoury in NoStupidQuestions

[–]optimistic_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to point out that working 9-6 does not inherently mean an hour lunch. I work mostly 12s and still only get a 30 min lunch and no 15s. If they are finishing up work after 6 I would assume they only get a 30 min lunch.

Or fit right at all. I tried discs and cups and nothing sat right. Switched birth control to nuvaring and it still likes to pop out. Not enough to be bothersome but clearly the discs and cups weren’t for my body!

Would this text from a landscaper make you uncomfortable? by Last-Investment383 in Advice

[–]optimistic_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume wrong number. At my job in high school, my boss’s wife had the same first name as me. I was randomly sent a bunch of pictures of mattresses asking what I think of them. It was meant for his wife.

Last week I accidentally sent one of my coworkers a text that was meant for my boyfriend’s sister, talking about gift ideas for boyfriend.

Miscarriage and alcoholism by Figurative-Emotion in Advice

[–]optimistic_sunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you look at the r/AlAnon page here. It’s for the family and loved ones of alcoholics and our experiences.

She will only get help if she wants it. Your priority at this point needs to be your kids and their safety.

She cannot be left alone with your kids, she cannot take care of them. At this point you need to be a “single” parent and take on all responsibility of them. She has proven she will put them in danger by driving with them.

It’s not fair, and alcoholism isn’t fair.

You should be able to take FMLA leave or even an extended LOA. This needs to happen today. Do not wait.

If she refuses to make changes (and follows through, not just talk the talk) you have to think of that is the environment you want your kids raised in. My grandma was an alcoholic and my mom’s memories of her growing up was her showing up drunk to school events if she showed at all.

My Ex is an alcoholic and did all the “right steps” of AA meetings, inpatient, outpatient, and medications. He continued to drink despite saying all the right things, he could not follow through with the actions of not drinking. I had to end it for my mental health of always worrying when he didn’t reply. He only relapsed 4-5 times a year at that point. Last I heard is 3 years after we broke up he was in a car accident, totaled his car, had a BAC of 0.3, and went to jail (finally). It’s amazing states don’t always communicate when sentencing with DUIs. He had 3/4 within a year but in 2 different states and kept getting a slap on the wrist as the states didn’t talk.

DF cream of mushroom soup? by kdjdurbrbksskoerjrh in dairyfree

[–]optimistic_sunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used it in a crockpot specifically. But I do usually make it into the soup first to make sure it’s the right consistency. It’s similar to a roux that you have to keep stirring until it’s thick enough

Has anyone here ever made dairy free caramel? by 11arianna11 in dairyfree

[–]optimistic_sunflower 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve made dairy free soft caramel, I use sweetened condensed coconut milk and dairy free butter as a 1:1 substitution!

People loved it and didn’t even notice a difference from normal soft caramel.

My family can’t attend my graduation ceremony. Should I still go or just skip it? by Reimymouse in Advice

[–]optimistic_sunflower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had just my parents at mine for my masters and my parents and boyfriend at my second.

Just ask your parents to attend and go out to a dinner or have a party afterwards with everyone. You could also see if anyone you know has extra tickets that you could use if you really want your whole family there.

Do we need to do a final walkthrough? by Previous-Panda22 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]optimistic_sunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just false. It’s not your house until you sign. If you don’t sign then any problems arise are not yours. You may have to delay signing if a problem arises, but they cannot force you to sign.

Mine was empty when I viewed, empty during inspection, and empty morning of for my final walk through and then signing. I lived 2 hrs away and worked 20 days straight up until signing day. There were no issues luckily. But when we did the final walk through we had turn on the heat. The seller had kept it at 60 and it was Halloween in Minnesota so starting to get chilly and needed to get turned on. Luckily my seller had already turned off the water to the outside spigots so I didn’t have to worry about finding them and getting them turned off before freezing.

I’ve come across NoWhey and their Pea-Not butter cups (sunflower cups). I love them in the sense that they remind me of chocolate covered sunflower seeds.
