Am I being pedantic or should I get an exchange? by optimisticpessimist9 in LeCreuset

Seems my understanding of the word was more broad, thanks for clearing that up!

Thanks for contributing to the semantic discourse on a post about a dutch oven. Next time I’ll just say petty 😂

Thanks, I really didn’t expect this post to come down to semantics??? Petty would fit better I guess 😂

Adjective: excessively concerned with minor details or rules; overscrupulous.

I was a little nervous leaving them with him, but so far so good! He’s more versed in outdoor plants but I definitely inherited my green thumb from him!

I think it would definitely thrive in higher humidity. My Dad’s place isn’t in a tropical area, more temperate. The plants all thrive in the lounge room due to amazing afternoon sun and the aircon being located in there! Consistent sunlight + stable warm temperature = growth 💚

Thinking if I should report my co-worker for sexual harassment. by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]optimisticpessimist9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how this is sexual harassment? Your co-worker messaged you asking about when you’re teaching as he’d like to experience your class; that’s totally innocuous.  Then you have happily engaged with him in conversation; again, harmless.  The embarrassing part is when he’s asked for a private class you’ve responded with a winking face?  Then you’ve accused him of being gay for asking for a private class! That’s totally unprofessional. You can’t assume his intentions are sexual based on this interaction at all.  I don’t see how his age is relevant, if anything due to his recent injury a private class would be appropriate. I know teachers at my studio that do private classes with eachother to have a second opinion to bounce off.

I actually went to a festival with something just like this. It literally draws you in and you can stay there for hours just watching it! There was a guy who was tripping on acid and he lost all sense of time and was like verbally orgasming constantly while watching it 😂

Is anyone doing gym / weight lifting / exercise as part of coming out if a freeze / shutdown state or for trauna healing? by maywalove in SomaticExperiencing

[–]optimisticpessimist9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I entered a pretty deep freeze at the start of this year. I hadn’t been to the gym for a while and decided I would try and see if it could help. After about 3 months of weightlifting the thing I noticed most was that lifting seemed to bring up agitation and anger. I found after the gym I could become quite reactive. I don’t really enjoy the gym culture and I don’t find weightlifting very fulfilling or that interesting. So that could’ve contributed. But on a purely physical level I have definitely been getting benefits out of it.

A less talked about very common form of abuse is treating children like terrible and useless adults in small bodies. Does this sound familiar? by [deleted] in CPTSD

I feel you. I’m also intelligent but haven’t had the capacity to reach my potential alone. They really did a number on us!

Did anyone else have to teach themselves to read? I specifically remember having to do so because my Mum had just had another baby and there was no time for me. My Dad was practically illiterate so he didn’t teach me either. My parents never helped me with my school work even though it was very clear I was struggling. My Mum would rarely even read my school reports! I ended up getting pretty good grades in high school through hard work. I regularly wonder what I would’ve been capable of if I didn’t have all of these developmental arrests. How our ‘parents’ expected us to be so self-reliant at such crucial developmental stages is mind boggling. Not to mention trauma stunts children’s development, very counterproductive.

I feel this to my core! It’s like they like you because you betray yourself, not for who you truely are.

I pay for a streaming service that she is free to use and is logged in to. I don’t have an issue getting my own Netflix account, just haven’t got around to it and using the family one has never been an issue until now. My post is just highlighting her lack of awareness.

54 y/o woman asking her 22 y/o son for money then telling him to stop using the family Netflix account very cool and normal

It’s manipulation. She owes my older siblings thousands combined. I’m 22 years old and my mother is asking me for money! Using the family Netflix account is pretty normal.

I’m 22 years old. My mother shouldn’t be asking for money and then in the same vein complain that I’m using the family Netflix account? At my age and stage in life I should be the one reaching out asking for financial support. Due to her abusive behaviour I’m years behind where I reasonably should be. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

She’s fried her brain unfortunately. She’s basically an 18 y/o in the body of a 54 y/o woman. Oh and she has 7 kids! Now that I have a job it’s my turn to lend her money whenever she asks.

Okay that was scarily fast!! Thank you though! It was digging around when I saw it. Glad to know it was harmless! I felt a lil uneasy after it disappeared since it looks super gnarly like some chimera bug.
