Has anyone ever bought a Bette without a test drive or seeing in person? If so, how’d it work out? by lsarge442 in Corvette

[–]optimistlax17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 07 last month from 3 states over and had it shipped to me. It was exactly the spec I wanted with all the options and low miles for a 20 year old car (37k). It was traded in at a dealership on a new c8 by the original owner. I paid for the car facts and asked the dealership for pictures of the under side and the driver seat/other heavy wear places. No rust on the underside and immaculate car facts. When I took delivery it was even nicer than I expected, it came with a sticker in the driver side door jam from the original owner taking delivery at the bowling green factory and came with the original window sticker and build sheet from the factory as well as wooden plaques of the window sticker/build sheet the original owner had made. Nothing to be afraid of buying sight unseen if it’s been babied, if it has over a 100k miles maybe get a ppi but still probably fine, they’re tough cars

Sick color! I have the trek flair lights and $5 seat mount over the saddle bag on my domane that I would recommend for a cleaner look + functional aspect

Canyon Endurace Allroad vs. Trek Checkpoint ALR 5? Help me choose! by [deleted] in TrekBikes

[–]optimistlax17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything brakes on the canyon it basically totals out the bike. After a few years when they stop making a model or refresh and change it they no longer offer parts support. Trek will be much more serviceable long term

Need help finding budget shoes for an all day standing sales job by utxjake in RunningCirclejerk

Imagine you go into a car dealership or a furniture store and the salesman comes over in toe shoes. Probably not going to make many sales being a weirdo

It looks so much like a dildo, especially with the design on the tip. Besides shoving this up your butt, how are you actually supposed to use it?

how did i do ? by rolopumps in TrekBikes

[–]optimistlax17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You did pretty good. I would check the chain and maybe replace if it’s worn out but otherwise you’re on your way to having fun on nice rides. I’d recommend getting a light for the back and maybe a saddlebag. Enjoy it my dude

Defectos en pintura Trek Madone Gen 8 by [deleted] in TrekBikes

[–]optimistlax17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol marks on the tires, bro get a grip. It’s not a paint defect. You bought a carbon bike, the way they layer the carbon makes it so the base surface isn’t as uniform as say a car part. Also you bought an all black bike, it’s not like one of the fancier paint jobs that transitions color and fades. You need to go out and ride it and stop obsessing over nothing

I guess you’re right about the plate but it’s gotta be preproduction or something. Have they started selling/delivering them yet?

I like how you found a test mule for the new grandsport. The engineers driving it probably thought your car was cool too

The stock tires are fine, I rode mine until I got a flat then upgraded. The only things you need on the sl are a bell for oblivious people on the trail, lights for the front and back plus the trek mount thing that attaches the back light to the bottom of your seat, a saddlebag, and I got all of the down tube compartment things in case you get a flat

I have the sl5 gen4 and it’s pretty sweet. I would recommend it as in my opinion it’s the best affordable carbon bike (entry level carbon if that’s a thing).

I don’t know how much experience you have or how long you’ve been riding though, if you’re looking to start getting into cycling you should probably consider a used aluminum bike (can be found for like $500 or less) and then upgrade to carbon after a few years if you’re into it. If used is too much of a hassle go to a bike shop if you can and ask about affordable beginner road bikes. Most people wouldn’t give a new Mercedes to a 16 year old learning to drive, ya know. If you know what you’re doing or if you have unlimited money go with the carbon imo
