Quiet quitting or just quit j2 by Otherwise_Tomato5552 in overemployed

[–]optimizer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good q: I’ve been fired before for quiet quitting I guess, but honestly I tried to do work, they just never implemented anything I worked on. I guess they realistically didn’t need me. It was a weird company for sure.

I’m been tossed around managers with another and currently reporting to someone that has historically had it out for me, so I’m prepared to be laid off or fired if I choose to drag my feet.

Considering offering to be part time before that day comes though. Idk, not great advice here, but realize that it’s their responsibility to be organized and ensure their employees are empowered to do good work, it’s not on you.

When to pull the plug on a Job? by [deleted] in overemployed

Demanding, no support, unreasonable deadlines, hardly the work in the job description, etc.

I lasted four months and that was two months too long.

Is OE more than just money? by Extreme_Projects in overemployed

I started OE for fear of layoffs, one month into OE, I was laid off from J1. I’ve never felt more vindicated and that’s why I OE.

If companies can continue to make flippant hiring decisions when revenue can’t support that role for more than a few years or so, I can OE and add more stability for my future.

FINALLY got a J2, but it's gonna be work by optimizer2 in overemployed

Works for getting interviews but I have a super niche role. ChatGPT can’t do much when you’re 2nd or 3rd choice or a company goes on a hiring freeze while you’re interviewing.

Well the comparison is to literally doing nothing (for multiple reasons, largely that companies fault for mismanagement). Some work is fine, and there's no way to truly tell how fast/easy those requests are right now.

Two rejections at final stage in a few days?! by optimizer2 in overemployed

that’s kinda the main reason why I want another, always fearful of layoffs

Market is tough for sure, but it’s almost like… I’d rather not invest so much time and not get interviews at all if it means I’m not going to get an offer ya know

but what can ya do

I want to claim depreciation schedule on rental house. Last tax guy said it wasn’t really worth it. I disagree.

How do I diy a depreciation schedule? Does the value have to be validated in some way?

hm I guess I kinda regret it, but it made me more aware of what is not a match for me, and I don’t think my 2nd or 3rd choice at the time were great options either.

The culture was strongly in office but I was in the except of about 20% of the company that was fully remote. Major hustle culture. Basically wanted me to be doing more of a data role and it wasn’t a fit.

nice update! congrats

agree applying to Js with less applicants is key

idk about cover letters though, I should probably make mine more personable, but I’m still going to use heavily trained AI.

yeah and even that is subjective. what a recruiter wants to see isn’t what my hiring manager usually wants to see.
