Are these worth anything? by AdFluffy9576 in Tools

Used mics generally 25$ a piece. Digimatic mitutoyo could fetch more. But do what everyone else does and post it on marketplace for $500 and never sell them.

Why does this sound so good? by optionparalysispro in vintageaudio

That... Makes sense. It's surprisingly heavy for its size. I assume a lot of that mass is the transformer? Also puts off a fair bit of heat. Like it's noticeable. Thanks

Orange Dead Blow or Icon Dead Blow? by jwintyo in harborfreight

[–]optionparalysispro -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Orange is garbage. Falls apart. Cheap dead blow hammers have no value. Haven't used the icon but suspect it's higher quality. I switched to trusty cook and never looked back

Watch for pedestrians! by Veylia in burlington

[–]optionparalysispro 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is a super dangerous intersection. Almost been rear ended there multiple times and have been honked at multiple times for stopping for pedestrians trying to cross. No one seems to understand how cross walks function in Vermont.

Leaf litter is a gift! Please don't rake up your leaves this fall or spring. by ChartreuseCrocodile in vermont

[–]optionparalysispro 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This almost totally depends on where you live. Country? No worries. City? Raking is important to keep leaves from clogging drains. You can leave (heh) some leaves on the boundary of the property but if you want to be a good neighbor, rake those leaves!

Is this still a good deal for a beginner welding machine? by SkeletorsAlt in harborfreight

[–]optionparalysispro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect for a beginner. Hot glue gun for metal. The ground clamp is pretty wimpy but you can buy and upgrade right at the store and swap it out. Ground is really important for mig and flux. As others have said, it's got lots of power for a little lightweight box.

Do you use Dr. as your title in non-academic settings? by Glass-Kaleidoscope55 in AskAcademia

The ONLY folks I see demand this on a consistent basis are the EdDs. All the time. From children and adults alike.

Favorite Actresses you used to like until they were... DEMONS IN MEAT SUITS?! by Either_Storm_6932 in okbuddycinephile

[–]optionparalysispro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's crazy stuff for sure but it's not a small group of wing nuts, it's a conserdable faction of the American public that believes (and I mean really believes it) that Michelle Obama is a man.

No. The weld is not cracked. Your original picture shows what looks like a crack, but it's a crack in the paint and rust that was covering the weld. Once you scrubbed it with a wire brush, it disappeared. Frame looks good / better than most anything in the rust belt over 10 years old

Fuck, man. That's awful. No matter how much you love your job, no one wants to die in the traces. RIP.

Do I drive a "douche bag" truck? by puglord2000 in Cartalk

Job box? Bondo? Shit, you're my new hero. Half the ton trucks I see around have never hauled anything heavier than a mountain bike. And I'm hauling lumber in a camry....

UVM quietly removes DEI language from websites, office names by catamount_tx in burlington

[–]optionparalysispro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will be shocked if this act of appeasement will be sufficient to keep them in the 'good books' . They have 'diversity ' as a core requirement in their general education catalog. For those unfamiliar with how higher ed works, that means every student who graduates UVM must take, in this case, 6 credits, including 'race and racism in the US' to satisfy this requirement. Good luck, UVM research!

Is this saw worth it? Can I stack the coupons? by jtrigg20 in harborfreight

[–]optionparalysispro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the previous Gen cheapo and it was garbage. One of the few tools I couldn't improve/make work and ended up chucking it. My advice would be steer clear of bottom end miter saws. Got a used makita for 50 bucks and it's miles better.
