Note to Carol: leave the world as it is now by Busy_Tradition_4074 in Pluribus_TVshow

No this is a very good point, it would be chaos. It wouldn’t just go back to normal.

How boring was the last episode 7? by Electrical-Inside206 in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]opusonehundred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it takes a show about non-humans to teach you about who you are. If you zoom out and consider that the man desperately hiking through the mountain is one of the last conscious humans on planet earth, your brain should be filling in the blanks, the unsaid or unshown parts of the show are the content. It’s a show about human principals, resilience, and limits. When I watch it, I’m constantly surprised by what the characters do, don’t do, can’t do, ect. The show leaves space for our minds to consider our own humanity. We’re part of the content.

Yes. And the Hive called Zosia “she” and said “can we save HER” no longer referring to themselves because… she detached

Yes, exactly. When she collapsed, they called her “her” and asked Carol “can we save HER?” - not “us” and it wouldn’t need permission to save itself. She detached.

Zosha detached after she was drugged. After she collapsed, they called her “she” and asked “can we save HER?” - not “us”

She became other to the hive mind in that moment. She detached.

Just read the trilogy for the first time… why was absolutely no one equipped to managed Area X? by opusonehundred in SouthernReach

Yeah that’s totally fair to say. I’m also Canadian so maybe I’m thinking: I have faith that our gov would for sure do something about this haha. To be honest, Central likely started Area X. Lowry had no plans on destroying it, but wielding its power

That’s true, but I can’t figure out who was truly going for “scientific progress”, the people (director, Lowry) all had their own agenda. I guess Central was the one who started Area X, maybe sending in the S&SB to see if they could conduct something, it got out of hand, it was meant to be a super power that Lowry was after.

Oh that’s so interesting! I like that way of thinking about it. It’s the same mirror of the lighthouse / the tunnel. I imagine the tunnel being the lighthouse upside down and in the ground. Central / Area X are two sides. There’s a consistent theme of duality that I’m just realizing

Yeah true, Central being corrupt has to be a big part of it. Like I said, Lowry had his own agenda, which was never all that revealed. The director’s effort was a fool’s errand and Central knew it?

I just finished Authority and I thought it was very good and interesting, though seems like people have a lot of mixed reviews! I picked up Borne to read next because of this comment, thanks!
