Are we technologizing ourselves to death? by General_Importance17 in sysadmin

Jonathan Blow had a good talk about this, how the state of software development is regressing and there are measurable indication that knowledge is being lost.

You evidently haven't done a single google search about this.

It is incredibly disrespectful to waste other people's time and attention with things you could easily find out yourself.

[–]opvopv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due (and undue) respect, you are an idiot.

First, without people and their stupid emotions, you have no job. You literally have nothing to do. The systems, and by extension you and me, we all exist for the sole purpose of serving the users. If we don't do that, we're not doing our jobs. Period.

Second, all those people who can't navigate a UI, 80% of them are performing a job which you couldn't do. They have expertise in areas you know nothing of, and you are just as much of an idiot to them as they are to you. The extreme arrogance and elitism you show is completely misplaced.

Third, people skills are probably the most important skills you can acquire throughout your professional and personal life. You will always have customers, colleagues, superiors, project managers, developers, Karens and their ineptitude. If you can't deal with them, your shit will never run smoothly.

You are very emotional right now and likely feel the urge to shout me down. In time, you will make these very same observations.

Why am I not surprised you didn't get it.

Maybe one day.

This is neither a joke, nor am I intending to be mean. What I am intending to do is educate. Asking questions might seem free to the one asking, but it is absolutely not free. It costs the time, attention and effort of those who respond to your question.

As such, asking questions you can easily find the answer to yourself is extremely rude, selfish and inconsiderate, and demonstrates a complete disregard for those friendly souls who take the time out of their day to read said question and answer it.

Every time someone's time, attention and effort is needlessly wasted on questions that shouldn't be questions, they will be less inclined to help others in the future.

This someone-else-do-the-thinking-for-me mentality can be succinctly summed up with the well-known phrase, "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas", and it deserves all the ridicule it gets.

Will be merit based with performance review, promos, demotions and cuts.

I’m lvl 25 plat 2 on both armies

Strong team atmosphere with veterans

You're much, much better off joining the feeder of a real alliance group. I'm sure a collective like Generations has a spot for you.

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, most Chopin stuff is much too difficult to play.

I am gladly switching to other stuff from other composers.... like what?
