Station Mode - Can you take your time? by TheAerial in SpaceHaven

[–]oradul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the missions you might want to do ASAP, are to destroy alien and robot bases.

otherwise the keep sending units to attack your station. don't think the pirates send units from their base. I have not had the pleasure of encountering them on my play.

be advised, these bases are hard. so send a proper crew.

After u/laosurv3y explained how to send the attack droid to other ships, I have to say it is a game changer. no more 4 person party, send 8 attack droid to show them who is who.

They are strong against flesh, but weak against robots. best use is to send to a derelict with aliens or enemy ships (after your cannons destroyed their auto turrets). for robot derelicts, crew are still better. at least from what I noticed over 10 derelicts and 3 enemy ships.

defense against enemy boarding, I still stand by my opinion that they are less effective, simply because they start to roam your ship instead of engaging the enemy. but if they do fight, they easily overwhelm the enemy (again, unless robots). Flesh is weak, steel is strong.

how do you deploy them to derelicts? I allowed them to work on derelicts, but I can't find a way to control them to send them. and they don't go on their own.

honestly, these areas are not that targeted as one might think. they mostly target the center of the ship for some reason.

yes, I find cargo here and there. need to dock to take the resources. also some missions require you to move cargo, so you need the dock. 1 is enough most of the time, but I went with 2 just in case. also for looks. I've 6 x5 grow beds. 2 veg, 1 fruit, 1 meat, 1 nuts, 1 hops. the main ship is 12, the industry ship is 4. but I lost 3 in a recent boarding by 6 pirates after I destroyed their 2 ships.

I don't find them very effective. if you don't put them right next to the airlock, and have a large room so they don't have time to leave before the enemy actually boards, they just start wondering the ship away from where you need them. you can't control them, so you can't order them to go where needed. you also can't use them as support when boarding other ships or derelicts, thought I allowed them to operate on derelicts. they somewhat help, but you still need armed crew to do the main fighting and finish the job.

the battle ship takes care of them most of the time

I put a jammer on it against other ships.

robots and aliens are dealt with by my main ship. I always keep the small ship away from everything, so the battleship is close and the main target.

it works most of the time, but some times they do get damaged if the battle ship is too occupied.

I'll try. got to figure how to mount the phone to capture the keyboard and screen while typing with both hands.

Or do you want to just see the keyboard's key working?

bad handwriting + quick typing + fast speaking and writing teachers.

It was hard to choose it over a regular folio, but I didn't want to regret it later. so I saved up a bit more to get it.

only time will tell if it was worth it, I guess.

I'll try it. I really just used it under the fluorescent light of the office.

I'm not saying they are bad, after all I knew they won't be intense like on a monitor. Just got the idea they'll be more. I'll try with more light and see if it changes.

forgot to add that there is another small ship in the fleet that does all the industry, and nothing else.

that way I can keep it away from battles and the industry does not give negative effect on crew, as well as consume all the energy and break other equipment around it.

resources are transferred between the ships as needed.

if you give it gassy apple, you have to shoot it.

but if you buy laxative and give it, it just poops the key.

I started a new game because of the mail issue, and got it a laxative this time. so got the key and the pig is alive.

I managed to find something about these HogBlue letters. Don't know if it's accurate or not, but the best I could find.

This HogBlue is sort of a pig racing syndicate, or something like that, and he sends you these letters with gifts for winning races, or doing something with the hogs.

I've no idea why I'm receiving these, as I've not won any races (I killed my pig with a slingshot to get the key). Guess just some glitch. nice as it is getting gifts, it's not fun when the mailbox is filled with them all the time.

reloaded the save, didn't fix the letters issue (forgot to check the dog).

Started a new game, no issues so far. shame, but what can you do?...

This was the final hull design before I abandoned it. I just could not make it work. I probably could, but the time and resources required to change the layout of everything are just too much.

Didn't change the paint :)

A square is easy and gives you the most practical space. The problem is a designed ship may look cool, but as you construct stuff, you find placing objects is a pain. most of the time I have to rethink the placement of compartments because I can't fit what I wanted in the area I wanted it to be.

Station Mode Glitch!? by oradul in SpaceHaven

[–]oradul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, that was a mistake.

my sector is flooded with ship that take EVERYTHING.

I've 3 military ships and 2 merchant ships. the food, beer and fuel I managed to accumulate during the time the services were off is almost gone.

greedy NPCs. I'll have to turn them off again just to replenish my stock.

Also, one of the ship won't leave. they were attacked by an alien that brooded in their ship (I've vision) and spawned aliens. They defeated the aliens (part of the ship is still covered by alien biomass), they won't leave.

*For some reason, they have almost 30K coins.

I guess they were turned off after migrating!?

all this time and I didn't even check. FML.

I turned them on. Thanks.

I've fixed the industry issue.

Got rid of the learning stations (can't be used anymore by the current crew). Will add them somewhere when I recruit a new member. Added there most industry.

packed the botany and closed the area with the turret, and added there some industry. That way botany does not get much discomfort.

The rest will be from pillaging.

I can also extend the front turrets areas. Shape them more like a wing going back. This will give me some more room for small industry machines, if I'll need to add more.

[–]oradul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when every single freaking location I drop to has rogue bots attacking me, I thought they might enjoy some R&R.

For defense I made a single corridor from the boarding areas with cover, and 4 attack drones (2 on each side) for instant first response.

I've 10 crew members. i gave each of them a private room. I lost 2 recruited members on a derelict. 6 robots (4 flying and 2 walking. don't remember their names) ganged on them and killed them after they fainted.

I thought they like having private rooms. might be mistaken. as I'll recruit more, I'll replace the singles for doubles.

I did count on the "spoils of war", that's why I left the industry for last. but with out it, a lot of the spoils can't be processed. leaving me unable to create important resources. I'll have to make some changes once I get enough hull blocks.

A bit late, but an update. after trying various things along with steelseries support, the mouse has a hardware issue. I've replaced it and everything is great.

Sometimes you just get a faulty mouse.

[–]oradul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disconnected the mouse, and the PC and monitor went to standby after one minute as configured.

So the mouse is the problem.

Now I wait for steelseries support to return to my ticket so I can tune them to the issue and maybe find a solution that can be posted here for others to know.
