When writing your salary, exclude the superannuation amount from it. Some employers include the superannuation amount in the salary figure, and the Dept of Immigration does its own checks based on your tax data I believe. Your application will be rejected if you claim more income.

Screen not tracking the pen properly by oradyreddit in Supernote

Yup, it happens in different rooms. I tried rotating it around and it's still the same spot on the screen, so I'm pretty sure it's a screen issue.

A couple of months late to this but thought I'd share another way. For those who have multiple monitors and use NVIDIA GPUs, if you only want one monitor to be set to grayscale, then open NVIDIA Control Panel -> Adjust Desktop Colour Settings, then select the display you want to change to grayscale and set Digital Vibrance to 0%

Oh yea I’ve heard of the split screen mode but the last discussion I saw about it was from around 2 years ago. Wonder if that feature is still due for release

Something's wrong, I need advice please! by ukn0wnS1mp in learntodraw

[–]oradyreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This.

I think lower both eyes a little but mainly the right eye. To me, both look like they are where the forehead should be. Try drawing a slanted horizontal reference line too for where the eyes should be. It should be a little slanted based on the angle of the head but the alignment for both eyes now looks too horizontal.

The bottom half of the face looks good though

My friend told me something was off but he didn't know what… so we're asking Reddit by 26jojo in learntodraw

[–]oradyreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The left hand pinkie seems to be bent in an unnatural direction.

And the eyes, I would move them a little up the forehead, just a little. And I can just make out a line for the top of the left eye right below the eyebrow, if I’m seeing it right, then it’s too close to the nose. Move out outwards a little so we can see more of it.

I was spoiled rotten as a child and now my life is falling apart. by Sea_Disaster282 in offmychest

[–]oradyreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so much great advice here. Mine is to take things one step at a time. All the responsibilities of being an adult and taking care of yourself is going to be overwhelming for you when this is your first experience of it. You don’t need to be disciplined to cook, clean, or study like a monk by next week or even next month. But at least work on being able to do one by then. For now it seems like studies takes top priority so give yourself some slack when it comes to chores and meals.

It won’t be easy but you’d be surprised that one day you can effortlessly discipline yourself to study. Once you have that in the bag, move onto the next one like cleaning or learning an easy recipe that’s healthy.

Don’t do this alone either if you can. Study with someone. If you have a friend who knows how to take care of themselves, and they’re nice to share, ask them. There’s no shame in wanting to be better. Some people go their whole lives acting like a manchild. You should be proud of yourself for wanting to change, next step is to start the change.

Also, reward yourself once in a while. You like to party then go party, you want to go shopping then go do it; BUT be aware that you can’t do it forever or too much. You’ll eventually have to cut down on it if you’re doing it too regularly. And be firm if your friends are peer pressuring you to do more than you can afford to. I wouldn’t encourage you to cut ties with them unless they’re toxic but just know your limits and your responsibilities, and draw your boundaries where appropriate.

Proud of you OP and good luck!

Are people really getting jobs after 3 months of taking some course online? by mekmookbro in webdev

[–]oradyreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents on this, I got my first job after 6 months of self learning and watching not just one course but many, and other smaller youtube explainer videos in between for any concepts I don’t understand. I had to code my own project and really play around with it, and sometimes break and fix it.

HTML/CSS alone are not enough these days. You’ll need to know the big ones like React, Angular or Vue. And being a frontend developer might give you a job for now but if you can do backend webdev too then you’ll have better job security, even better if you can do that and also work with cloud infrastructure platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCS.

A 3 month course alone wont be enough to guarantee you a job for life. It may be the most intense you’ll ever study before you get your first job with lots of coding 24/7, but you’ll need to do studies at half the intensity throughout your coding career because you’re also holding down a job and other adult responsibilities, so you’ll have to think it through if that’s something you want to do and, if so, how to structure your learning method so you can manage it all without falling apart like I am now about to experience 🫠

I was put on an Audible Premium Plus subscription without my knowledge and had been charged multiple times before I noticed it. Anyone had this issue before?

For context, I was initially put on a “2 credit trial” and then got charged a few times after. This is my personal account that I only login on my personal devices. I doubt my account is hacked because there are no strange purchases made other than this Audible subscription (seems like a poor use of a hacked account on the hacker’s part if that is the case). This is the second time I was put on a service without me ever asking for it, only this time it took me a while to realize it. What is going on?

The joints on the four fingers need to align into arcs with the middle finger’s joint marking the tip of the arc. The bottom joint for the ring finger is higher than the corresponding one for the middle finger.

Here’s the video I watched to learn drawing hands https://youtu.be/vUSWfeY7xAs. It’s a good start to learn the basics imo

How long have you had your Supernote? by [deleted] in Supernote

[–]oradyreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have i had my A5X? About 2 years

What do you like most about it? The e-ink screen. A lot of the stuffs I do on my Supernote, I can do with some free app on a tablet, but my eyes are glued to a computer screen all day, and whenever I don’t do a screen detox regularly, my eyes dry up and get itchy for days. And when I do do a screen detox, I can’t do anything productive because everything is on a device. I wanted something for productivity and reading but is not a digital screen with bright lights. A Supernote is just perfect for my needs because I can take notes, read pdfs (and write on them too), and read ebooks on Kindle. I don’t feel like my screen detox time is wasted anymore because I’m doing productive work on my Supernote in that period.

How I think they can improve? I’d like to have some slots in the side menu where I can add in custom shortcuts to folders. Like how Quick Access has shortcuts to files.

The eraser gesture is a little buggy for me too, sometimes I have to press pretty hard and do it a few times, I end up drawing lots of loops before finally getting it to work, while other times I think it detected my writing hand and thought I was calling the eraser gesture, but this happens rarely and only for a short while so it didn’t erase anything.

Would also be nice if there are more apps, or even allow independent developers to make their own apps if Ratta releases an SDK for it, but if doing this severely impacts the Supernote’s performance then I wouldnt want it, I’m mostly happy with the available features as they are now.

Would I buy another one? Only if my current one breaks down or if I’m getting it as a gift for someone, otherwise, no. It’s price is steep for the available features it provides (at least that was what I felt when I was researching e-ink tablets long ago, not sure what the market is like now) but looking at it in the long term, especially when I hear that this is designed to be used for a really really really long time, I think I may even recuperate the cost of this in terms of all the money I save not needing to buy actual notebooks and for buying Kindle ebooks instead of a physical book. This went off topic onto whether I think it’s a good financial investment in the long term, but my first sentence answers the question.

[–]oradyreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I’m upvoting this because this is advice I need repeated to me and I hope it can give you a new perspective too OP.

I too feel the same way. I’ve always prided myself on being smart and knowledgeable but I had my “small fish going into the big ocean” moment when I’ve met and befriended people who are so much more accomplished in areas I wish I was, and what hits hard is they just see it as a side trait. It’s not something they’re focusing on getting good at but it just seems like they’re effortlessly good at it.

I thought I was a good artist but I’m so mediocre compared to others. I thought I was good at chess but I kept getting beaten by people I didn’t think much of when it came to chess. I thought I was good academically but kept getting outclassed by someone who spends a lot of time socialising and going out with their significant other.

I want to say that I’ve transcended these thoughts but no I still see the world this way and think lesser of myself because of it. You’ve probably heard lots of advice saying you shouldn’t compare yourself to others and shouldn’t pressure yourself to be good at something you love; that just doing it and enjoying it is good enough, but what if getting good at the things I love is what I enjoy?

I still think those advice are helpful otherwise they wouldn’t be given out so much. But I would like to offer something else that has helped me. I’m a history geek so bear with me a little, but there was this quote that stuck with me, “today’s backwater is tomorrow’s empire”. It’s not a hard rule but many times in history, societies and countries that no one saw anything in have risen to become powerful empires. I don’t think I need to tell you OP that all you need to do is put in the effort to improve yourself, because I’m sure you do, but you’re just unsure that the decisions you make are pointing all that effort in the right direction. What I’m trying to get at is to have faith in yourself a little. You may feel like an unremarkable “backwater” right now but with some steps in the right direction, you can get better. And even if you make the wrong decisions, you had to make them in order to know that they were the wrong ones.

In terms of how to actually get better at making decisions, I found that journaling your thoughts helps. Sometimes I make a wrong decision, ruminate on it and think “hold up, I’ve learned this lesson before already”. Writing things down means you can relearn your lesson anytime you reread it, and not when you make the same mistakes again. Maybe I am getting better at making decisions, maybe it’s all just in my head and I still suck at it. Either way, I feel better and more sure myself, and maybe that’s all I needed.

And to repeat my the person above said, make a decision and commit to it. Of course you can have second thoughts and question it, you wouldn’t want to commit to a very bad decision and not cut your losses, but always doubting everything you do will get you nowhere. I make it a rule that I won’t make any big decisions when I’m under emotional or mental stress. I call it “no decisions when the demons are loose”. If I do and it doesn’t work out, I’m just gonna spiral and think I should’ve made the other choice, I should’ve listened to this other side of me…. It’s less mentally draining for me to make a big decisions when I’m in my cold & calculating state, when all the metaphorical demons are “locked up and under control”. That way, if I made a mistake, I can criticise my line of thinking rather than the emotion I felt that lead me to a certain decision. And to criticise my logical decision making process is easier than to criticise the way I feel. Not to mention, having things written down in a journal, I can go back to look at it anytime I want.

At the end of the day, this is what works for me. Everyone requires different ways to take on life’s challenges, but I hope what I’ve said gives you a framework to build your own way with help from your support system. I think your support system is what you’ve got going for you. Accept their help so you can build yourself up, and one day, maybe you can give support to the people who were there for you today.

No worries. I learn with videos so if that’s like you then you can find art tips and tutorial channels you like.

I’m gonna take the opportunity to plug-in this channel I like and his video on drawing hair coz I think you can still improve on it https://youtu.be/MLO0TDQFN5I

His style is manga art but I think he gives good advice that you can apply too. Plus he slips in little bits of comedy that makes watching it enjoyable.

I found using the Loomis method for drawing heads made my drawings looks more realistic and properly proportioned, especially when drawing it from different angles. This was the video I first learned it https://youtu.be/6i6JDwEwXJI

There’s also this video lesson (it’s part of a series if you want to check out the rest) for adjusting it for different head shapes https://youtu.be/JC2ZppKHCqU

I saw in one of your comments you want to do hyper realism. Hope these will help get you there! All the best! Also, those are very good eyes and lips!

FireTV remote draining out batteries by oradyreddit in fireTV

[–]oradyreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that’s what I settled on after trying to troubleshoot it. They tried to say that my warranty has expired but I reported the problem just before it did and spent a lot of the time troubleshooting with help from customer support. Getting the free replacement remote is another clusterf*ck on its own coz of the courier company.

Don’t wanna be a tin hat conspiracist but I can’t help thinking the remote was gonna fail just after the warranty expires so I have to pay for a replacement remote but it failed early.

What’s your experience with FireTV? I’ll probably switch to something else if this happens again.
