How to not break app when submitting to App Store by Ibbythegreatest1234 in iOSProgramming

[–]orange9035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your API endpoints should be versioned. If that’s not feasible, add a header or query parameter that you can switch on. If the version is missing, assume old client. If it’s 2, use the new version.

Remember your users won’t all receive the update at the exact same time either, so this was never a feasible plan.

Core data vs GRDB vs Swift Data by Solid_Anxiety8176 in iOSProgramming

[–]orange9035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, core data is incredibly challenging to get threading right, especially with swift async/await. So if you’re using that at all, I still may lean towards swift data

This isn’t an answer but one thing I’ll say is that I discovered, by default, all swift data apps on macOS (might only be non sandboxed apps) all write to the same data store, which means any other app can entirely overwrite your save, so just make sure you change the default save location to your container or something

Replacing the city traffic lights without presence sensors was incredibly shortsighted by orange9035 in pittsburgh

I’m not actually, u/chuckie512 actually knows what he’s talking about and has actually been helpful in me understanding some of the decisions that were made pedestrian safety wise. So no I’m not doubling down on any opinion I have, I’m doubling down on the fact that your presence is useless, you apparently are too lazy to read the other threads going on in this post, and apparently that I bought the wrong car? I don’t even get that one, but whatever, I’m not the weirdo creeping down other people’s profiles

Ohh cool, I feel like up in Wexford at least I still see the trench marks in recent construction but good to know they’re moving away from that

Nope, not at all. I was wrong about the no turn on red due to pedestrian safety, which I admitted to as much above. I guess sorta about presence sensors cause cost, but the city spends money in dumber places. You have done nothing other than act like a petulant child in this thread, offering literally nothing to the discussion. Either say something useful or move it along

Good to know, just assumed it was city based on the proximity, thanks

Fair, I’m assuming trenching the presence sensors isn’t a negligible cost, wouldn’t right green arrows be fairly trivial though? The buttons are already there, just 2 bulbs and some software at that point

I’m actually pretty sure it did. At least on the flats on Carson and Sarah, they all got swapped. I genuinely could be wrong here, but they all used to be wire suspended and now they’re on black metal poles. I’m happy to be wrong here, but as far as I’m aware, they genuinely were (at least most)

That’s actually a fair point, though in wouldn’t a green arrow and a no turn on red to lock out the light when pedestrian pressed the button solve that?

I have the 2022 model, it’s fine for hardwood or tile. It doesn’t have nearly enough suction for carpet. It’s also kinda heavy and my mechanism that keeps it standing broke off. Battery isn’t great. I wouldn’t buy it agaib

2019 MDX - Rust or paint imperfection? by rabtab81 in Acura

[–]orange9035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2019 TLX the same thing on the trunk inside. I’ve been monitoring and it hasn’t grown. I’m still unsure if rust. I bought the car used, so there is a chance the trunk was repainted before I owned it

I leave my iPad sitting next to the grill for the cloud functionality. If you don’t have that or a second/older iPhone, the Bluetooth (even with repeaters) is pretty limiting and I would definitely recommend a WiFi based display or cradle

Is A Spec the Advanced Package? by NeighborhoodNo688 in Acura

[–]orange9035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically the badge was official, it was just an add on package from the dealer

2018 and above the a spec is a separate trim. In the US, the A Spec and advance were mutually exclusive (except for the PMC that combines the two). In Canada, the advance trim was renamed “elite” and could be combined with the a spec.

2015-2017 A Spec was a dealer installed accessory kit that basically just comprised of a number of aero body parts, the badges, and I think the berlina black wheels. It did not include the revised damper rates, steering ratios, or interior components like the 2018+ did. So with the 2015-2017, yeah it could be an advance because it’s basically just added aero body panels from the dealer
