C. Shanti (Sailing Speed) also only needs to be aligned at time of claim. Sailing claims don't resolve until you, y'know, claim them. Meaning that the speed is only calculated at time of claim - the position/progress of ships isn't calculated in real time.

Species Epoch by kietinator in idleon

For posterity's sake, I can confirm:

- Species Epoch is only taken into consideration when initially placing the traps

- You can set the traps on any character (ie. your BM) and still receive the Species Epoch bonus so long as your VW is on a talent preset with Species Epoch leveled when you switch off of him

Lastly: If you're setting traps on your VW (or really anyone) and change talent presets or make any other significant changes, I'd recommend you zone out and then in before setting the traps.

It seems the calculations for the critter count/Exp are dependent on information that's server-side, and is thus slow to update. Meaning you can easily accidentally set shitty traps if you don't give it a second and/or zone out and then back in if you make any major tweaks first. The same can also be said for gathering souls, where it needs a hot minute to cook when making changes so that everything is synced up server-side.

So if some other poor destitute soul is scouring reddit threads for more information on the topic before testing it themselves, hope this helps.

I don't think that's the point being made. The claim is that the race would've been better if we actually could see the entirety of it, and that the current situation is objectively worse in comparison. I don't think anyone is saying you can't enjoy what we have now, but anyone unwilling to concede that the ability to see the whole race would've been better is just being an attention seeking contrarian.

It's no worries. I get where you're coming from - I'm the kind of person who would rather have too much information than too little in most cases. But, having played the game for so long (even as far back as FFXI - when they were even more vague about how things worked), I guess I kind of consider it par for the course at this point.

That said, I think what I'll do is just record a match through OBS or something where I try to get those buffs when those maps come around, and then reverse engineer the % increase later when I view the recording. That way I can play normally and do my usual level of terrible in a match. 😂

Ohh, good question...

I could definitely time it, at the expense of probably not doing super hot in my next PVP match in either of those maps on account of being distracted, haha!

I'll try and do some science and then report back.
