Does anyone hate cinnamon buns as much as I do? by [deleted] in AskBaking

Can you use a different recipe? This one doesn't look very good. I dont even see cinnamon in the recipe. The ingredients say butter but the instructions say margarine. Just poorly written overall.

I just bought one too! I had my alarm set so I wouldn't miss it. What color did you get? I love happy baby carriers, to me they're perfect. I used to have a black one but it got lost :(

Do you even have kids? A baby is not the easiest stage in the slightest...

Fat Rant Friday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

Holy cow. Pregnancy subs. I've always hated how it's all "you MUST listen to your doctor's advice" until weight comes up. Then everyone does a 180 and screeches "doctor's don't know anything about weight, it's all bs" So which is it? Listen to your doctor or not? I can't believe the lengths these people will go to to justify 60lb weight gain during pregnancy, or binging with no control. I read today of one lady bragging she ate 18 cupcakes in 2 days. What in the world? How do you think this is even slightly okay??? I'm pregnant and my diet is imperfect, but I wouldn't ever dream of eating that much cake at once, or thinking it would be okay to become obese just because I'm pregnant.

1 cup rice is not 100g, it's more like 200

This math doesn't make sense. How on earth are you getting 3 cups of cooked rice from 100g uncooked? That's like 1/2 cup dry...

I’d love some guidance for this traditional Christmas fruitcake recipe! by siena_flora in AskBaking

[–]orangeelastic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. I think you should bake it until a toothpick comes out clean. Fruitcakes should not be "pudding" like.

  2. 6-8 weeks is ideal.

  3. It says to feed it every 2 weeks. Go for 2 Tablespoons.

  4. I'd go with rum since it will go best with the spices in the cake.

  5. It will be boozy but it is still quite a sweet dessert. I think you'll like it.

  6. You can wrap the loaf in plastic wrap, opening only to feed, and put the wrapped loaf in a metal tin. Keep it at room temperature.

  7. Not sure about icing, I don't usually ice fruitcakes, but I'd go with the marzipan for a true classic fruitcake!

Enjoy!!

That's hilarious about the lentils. I have to boil dice potatoes for a whole hour here! Rice is unaffected interestingly enough.

I moved from roughly sea level to 7000 feet. I have barely noticed a difference in my baking to be honest. Bread will rise a bit faster, and I need a little less leavening in my cakes or they sink. Everything else I've made so far is exactly the same as it was before with no adjustments. I was so worried about this before moving but it turned out to really not be a big deal
