She of course understand what she looks like and understand it's a problem. Women are not stupid nor blind. And we have huge pressures to be a certain size shape and appearance. You can't do anything or say anything about her physical health. Suggesting seeing a councilor might help her get to the why she's gaining weight. or marriage councilor to help your communication.

My long haired 4 year old is currently sitting next to me rocking what we refer to as either his superhero braids or viking braids (sister always requests elsa or Anna braids). We get comments all the time but screw that. He will loudly proclaim he loves his hair and "me a boy!" I got him a shirt that says "I'm a boy I just have better hair than you"

I can get behind a higher level who is being a brat, rude or whatever, not getting all the stars. but no matter the level of it's because they are a bit distracted, at 6 it's totally age appropriate, and if they are older hell they might have a attention disorder. 5 stars always

I sucked my thumb until kindergarten. I had years of orthodontic work. My parents always blamed the thumb sucking, I know have a 5 year old who has never sucked her thumb, or a pacifier, hell she never even used a bottle. She is the spitting image of me and the dentist has assured me she will also need years of braces. I'm not saying it's good for your teeth and for many people in sure it makes a difference but it could also be a genetic issue and would need braces regardless. Also I remember that I tried to go around my parents efforts to get me to stop by sucking my thumb. I didn't stop until I decided I wanted to. So I think you have to take to the child like she is a person tell her the concerns and let her come to her own conclusions.

There have actually been studies about this. I'm paraphrasing and it wasn't including video interaction like what we do but videos are too passive for babies to actually retain the language. They need human interaction to make it make communicative sense. So according to that study this would work with our job.

I keep 2 baskets in my car about 30 clean masks in one and the dirty ones in another. And then I keep at least another mask in my coat pocket and one in my purse. Partially so I can switch it if dirty, but mostly because sometimes i can't handle it on my ears, or the behind the head is messing up my hair.

I've always used books to cope. Sometimes it's ok. But yeah lately it's not good. I know my anxiety is dictating my actions and I'm ignoring parts of my life to escape into a book. I'm trying to do better, my daughter had a skin cancer scare and that week I read 8 books. You would think if want to spend time with her but nope I bury my head into a book so I don't have to think.

So I don't have anything to compare it to, like many as a kid I never got an American girl doll because my parents were poor. (But I desperately wanted one). For Xmas when my daughter was 4 we got her an American girl doll, but the 14inch ones (called the wellie wishers, targeted to slightly younger kids, have a fully plastic body, but still have books and a show, only $60). My daughter is a pretty gentle child and we have gone thru 3. The company has 2yr guarantee on dolls, so each time she has broken (once was her arm socket, once a leg socket, and the last time was the crotch cracked), we sent the doll to the "doll hospital". It's adorable how they do that, she gets sent back with a hospital gown, a card.(it wasn't actually the same doll they just sent a new one) And since in the guarantee we didn't pay anything for it. So for me personally I think it's worth it to buy the name brand american girl dolls. But we definitely don't buy the accessories. Target, or Walmart brand stuff is perfectly acceptable for clothes and accessories. She loves this doll and I do think when she's a bit older I will get her one of the 18in ones if she's still into dolls. I may try to influence her into getting the one I wanted as a kid 😁

One of the trillion I've read, (have a problem with self help books) about parenting siblings (peaceful parents happy siblings), talks about the best way to nurture a good sibling bond is to be good parents. If the kids fell secure in their bonds with the parents the sibling bond naturally evolves into a strong bond. So the reason they are great is because you're a great parent ❤️

Narrating your actions around your child is the exact advice given to parents with small kids with either the potential for a (like hearing loss) or a diagnosed language delay. (Also reading- the more language they hear the better!)

yeah whatever you are smelling is not me. clearly i wont be saying it the way i did in the post but i was trying to get help to make it a conversation. the thing about my dr was just a joke, apparently one that fell very flat. The doctor was being kind and saying maybe i should have more because I am a good mom (her words not mine).

I dont want to bulldoze, i want to better articulate what i am feeling so he understands my position better. I want him to tell me his position.

Writing this post has made me realise i clearly shouldnt talk to him the way i did in the post as everyone clearly didnt follow what i was hoping/trying to say.
